Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan representasi muatan budaya pada teks bacaan di dalam ujian penerimaan mahasiswa baru oleh salah satu universitas di Jakarta, yang disebut TKD PENMABA UNJ pada tahun 2019. Muatan budaya yang dimaksudkan merujuk pada ragam aspek budaya yang diusulkan oleh Moran (2001) dan sumber budaya yang diusulkan oleh Cortazzi & Jin (1999). Kerangka penelitian yang digunakan adalah analisis konten. Data diperoleh dari 18 teks bacaan pada ujian. Hasil penelitian mengungkap : 1) muatan budaya pada teks bacaan di dalam TKD PENMABA UNJ 2019/2020 paling banyak digambarkan dengan kultur aspek Artefak dan Budaya Sasaran 2) tingginya frekuensi Artefak menunjukkan bahwa gambaran budaya yang berwujud lebih banyak daripada gambaran budaya yang tidak berwujud 3) Budaya Sasaran (80%) jauh lebih banyak diekspos daripada Budaya Internasional (13%) dan Budaya Sumber (7%). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa tingginya persentasi Artefak dan Budaya sasaran pada teks bacaan di dalam TKD PENMABA UNJ 2019/2020 menunjukkan peserta ujian dinilai sudah menguasai pengetahuan tentang Budaya Sasaran. Ini menunjukkan standar bagi calon mahasiswa baru UNJ untuk dapat memahami muatan budaya selain budaya mereka sendiri. This study aims to depictthe representation of cultural contentsin reading texts of college admission test held by one of university in Jakarta, called TKD PENMABA UNJin 2019. The cultural contents refer to the aspects of culture by Moran (2001) and the sources of culture by Cortazzi & Jin (1999). This research framework is content analysis. The data were collected from 18 reading texts from the test. The findings reveal that: 1) the cultural content in reading texts of TKD PENMABA UNJ 2019/2020is mostly represented with aspect of culture Artifacts and Target Culture 2) the frequent occurrences of Artifacts shows that tangible representation of culture is more present than intangible representation of culture 3) Target culture(80%)is far more exposed than InternationalCulture(13%) and Source Culture(7%). It can be concluded that the dominance percentage of Artifact and Target Culture in the reading texts of TKD PENMABA UNJ 2019/2020 may infer that the test takers are expected to be already equipped with knowledge of target culture.It infers the standard of what future students of UNJ are comprehensible to read within the content of culture other than their own.
