Abstract

Film menjadi bagian dari karya sastra yang bisa menjadi media komunikasi untuk menyampaikan sebuah makna. Makna tersebut biasanya disampaikan melalui ucapan dari karakter dalam naskah film untuk menyampaikan maksud tertentu. Ucapan tersebut juga mampu mempengaruhi jalannya cerita. Untuk itu, studi ini bertujuan untuk mencari tahu tutur kata dan makna tersurat dari ucapan karakter perempuan utama yang berperan sebagai bos dalam film The Intern, Jules Ostin. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dan teori Searle. Data penelitian ini diambil dari ucapan Jules yang berisikan tindak tutur direktif. Ditemukan ada 72 data dari ucapan Jules yang termasuk enam jenis dari tindak tutur direktif. Di antaranya yaitu 28 ucapan perintah (38,90%), 18 ucapan permintaan (25,00%), 13 ucapan saran (18,05%), 1 ucapan mengundang (1,38%), 8 ucapan mengkritik (11,11%), dan 4 ucapan larangan (5,56%). Penulis menemukan dan menyimpulkan kalau tindak tutur direktif dari Jules yang paling dominan yaitu perintah (38,90%). Hal ini memang berkaitan dengan peran Jules sebagai bos dalam film The Intern yang memang memiliki status tinggi di antara yang lain. Dengan menggunakan jenis perintah, Jules mampu mengarahkan orang lain yang memiliki status lebih rendah darinya untuk melaksanakan tugas yang dia berikan untuk membantunya menjalankan bisnisnya. Selain itu, studi ini juga menemukan makna tujuan dari keseluruhan ucapan Jules Ostin yang pada akhirnya mengarah kepada perusahaannya, tempat dia ingin mempertahankan dirinya sebagai pendiri sekaligus pejabat tertinggi eksklusif di perusahaannya, About The Fit. ********************** Film become a part of literary works that can be a medium of communication to convey meaning. The meaning is usually conveyed through the utterance of the characters in the film script to convey certain purposes. These utterances are also able to affect the story in the film. Therefore, this study aims to find out the directive speech act and intended meaning from the utterances of the main female character who act as the boss in the film The Intern, Jules Ostin. This study uses descriptive qualitative method and Searle's theory. The data of this study is taken from the utterances of Jules which contained directive speech act. There are 72 data found from Jules' utterances that included six types of directive speech acts. There are 28 utterances (38.90%), 18 utterances of demand (25.00%), 13 suggestions (18.05%), 1 inviting utterance (1.38%), 8 criticisms (11.11) %), and 4 prohibitions (5.56%). The writer found and conclude that the most dominant directive speech acts of Jules’ utterances is commanding (38.90%). This is indeed related to the role of Jules as the boss in the film The Intern which does have a high status among other. Jules willingly to direct other people who had lower status than her to carry out the orders she gave to help run her business. In addition, this study also found the intended meaning of Jules Ostin's utterances ultimately led to her company, where she wanted to uphold herself as the founder and the CEO in her company, About The Fit.
