Abstract

Ways of Thinking Skills (WoT) - Berpikir Kritis, Pemecahan Masalah, dan Pengambilan Keputusan adalah keterampilan penting di abad ke-21 sebagai "kompetensi baru" yang harus dikuasai oleh semua orang. Karenanya, lembaga pendidikan memiliki peran penting untuk mempersiapkan siswa menghadapi era baru dengan keterampilan tinggi di masa depan. Sementara itu, keterampilan menulis adalah salah satu keterampilan produktif yang sangat penting untuk dikuasai oleh siswa dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. Menanggapi masalah ini, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang Keterampilan Cara Berpikir - Berpikir Kritis, Pemecahan Masalah, dan Pengambilan Keputusan terpadu dalam silabus menulis untuk Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris (ELESP). Penelitian ini menggunakan Desain dan Pengembangan (DDR) dengan menerapkan beberapa tahap yaitu analisis kebutuhan, menggambarkan tujuan, merancang dan mengembangkan silabus, mengevaluasi silabus prototipe dan revisi desain. Sumber data terdiri dari 17 silabus menulis dari 6 universitas di Indonesia. Analisis ini melibatkan kerangka kerja keterampilan Berpikir yang diajukan oleh Griffin, McGraw, & Care (2012) dalam teori berbasis Penilaian dan Pengajaran Keterampilan Abad 21 (ATC21S). Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa keterampilan WoT sebagian besar terintegrasi ke dalam komponen Deskripsi Mata Kuliah, Tujuan Pembelajaran, Hasil Belajar, Bahan, Metode Pengajaran, dan Penilaian, Indikator, dan Evaluasi. Level ketrampilan WoT yang paling diterapkan dalam silabus mata pelajaran menulis yang adalah level Skill. Oleh karena itu, integrasi keterampilan WoT secara eksplisit dan implisit dijelaskan dalam silabus mata kuliah menulis. Penelitian ini menyajikan prosedur integrasi WoT dan desain silabus keterampilan menulis terintegrasi WoT; Menulis Dasar, Menulis Profesional, Menulis Kreatif, dan Menulis Akademik. Silabus yang diusulkan menerapkan desain silabus berbasis keterampilan. Ways of Thinking Skills (WoT) - Critical Thinking, Problem-Solving, and Decision Making are the crucial skills in the 21st century as “new competencies” that must be mastered by everyone. Hence, Educational institutions have a critical role to prepare students for the new era with a highly skilled in the future. Meanwhile, writing skill is one of the productive skills which is vital to be mastered by the students in English language learning. Responding to these issues, this research aims at designing Ways of Thinking Skills - Critical Thinking, Problem-Solving, and Decision Making integrated writing syllabuses for English Language Education Study Program (ELESP). This study employed Design and Development Research (DDR) by applying several stages there are needs analysis, describe objective, design and develop the syllabus, evaluate the prototypical syllabus and design revision. The data sources consist of 17 writing syllabuses from 6 universities in Indonesia. The analysis involved a framework of Ways of Thinking skills proposed by Griffin, McGraw, & Care (2012) in the Assessment and Teaching of 21st Century Skills (ATC21S) based - theory. The result of the research revealed that WoT skills are mostly integrated into the components of the Course description, Learning Objectives, Learning Outcomes, Materials, Teaching Methods, and Assessment, Indicator, and Evaluation. The most applied level of WoT skills in the existing syllabuses of writing subject is Skill level. Therefore, the integration of WoT skills was explicitly and implicitly explained in the syllabuses of writing subject. This study presents the procedure of WoT integration and the design of WoT skills integrated writing syllabuses; Basic Writing, Professional Writing, Creative Writing, and Academic Writing. The proposed syllabus implemented the skill-based syllabus design.
