Abstract

Creative skill is one of the 4C skills that people need nowadays. Partnership for 21st Century Skills (P21) stated that creative thinking skill facilitates students to think unconventionally, imagine new scenarios, and produce astonishing work since many of the fastest-growing jobs and emerging industries rely on workers’ creative capacity. This study aims to investigate creative skill’s integration in English for Popular Science Communication course at Universitas Negeri Jakarta focusing on syllabus and learning activity. The indicators of creative skill are combined from most recent literature of ACER and AACU and validated by the expert. Qualitative content analysis is used for this present study, in which the data analysis procedure using Miles and Huberman’s (1994) theory of qualitative data analysis. The findings showed that several aspects of creative skill have been integrated in the course. In the syllabus, the students are demanded to think and put the ideas into a work and take a risk to present it in front of the class. In the learning activity(s), the lecturer triggers the students to be creative through ask several questions related to their works in order to help them deliver their ideas very well to the audiences. ******************** Keterampilan kreatif merupakan salah satu keterampilan 4C yang dibutuhkan masyarakat saat ini. Partnership for 21st Century Skills (P21) menyatakan bahwa keterampilan berpikir kreatif memfasilitasi siswa untuk berpikir secara tidak konvensional, membayangkan skenario baru, dan menghasilkan karya yang menakjubkan karena banyak pekerjaan yang tumbuh paling cepat dan industri yang sedang berkembang bergantung pada kapasitas kreatif pekerja. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui integrasi keterampilan kreatif dalam mata kuliah English for Popular Science Communication di Universitas Negeri Jakarta dengan fokus pada silabus dan kegiatan pembelajaran. Indikator keterampilan kreatif digabungkan dari literatur terbaru ACER dan AACU dan divalidasi oleh ahli. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis konten kualitatif, di mana prosedur analisis datanya menggunakan teori analisis data kualitatif Miles dan Huberman (1994). Temuan menunjukkan bahwa beberapa aspek keterampilan kreatif telah diintegrasikan dalam mata kuliah tersebut. Dalam silabus, siswa dituntut untuk berpikir dan menuangkan ide ke dalam sebuah karya dan mengambil resiko untuk mempresentasikannya di depan kelas. Dalam kegiatan pembelajaran, dosen memicu mahasiswa untuk berkreasi dengan mengajukan beberapa pertanyaan terkait dengan karyanya agar dapat membantu mereka menyampaikan hasil karyanya dengan baik kepada khalayak.
