Abstract

Jaranan merupakan tradisi lisan masyarakat Jawa yang masih ada hingga sekarang. Salah satu grup yang masih aktif di Kota Nganjuk, Jawa Timur adalah Grup New Satriyo Mudo. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui srtuktur pertunjukan dan makna semiotika prespektif Charles Sanders Peirce (ikon, indeks, simbol) pada pertunjukan Jaranan group New Satriyo Mudo. Metodologi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif, terutama menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data observasi dan dilakukan wawancara yang mendalam untuk mengetahui makna dan asal usul sejarah yang terkandung pada kesenian Jaranan ini. Berdasarkan analisis ditemukan struktur pertunjukan yang terdiri dari prapertunjukan, saat pertunjukan, dan pascapertunjukan. Dari struktur tersebut ditemukan data pada prapertunjukan, saat pertunjukan, dan pascapertunjukan. Kemudian data tersebut dianalisis menggunakan semiotika perspektif Peirce (ikon, indeks, simbol). Hasil analisis terhadap struktur dan simbol yang terdapat pada pertunjukan Jaranan peneliti menemukan hasil makna yang didapat lebih cenderung kepada asal-usul sejarah, kepercayaan masyarakat setempat dan pemertahanan sebuah pertunjukan tradisi. ***************** Jaranan is an oral tradition of Javanese society that still exists today. One of the groups that are still active in Nganjuk City, East Java is the New Satriyo Mudo Group. This study aims to determine the performance structure and semiotic meaning of Charles Sanders Peirce's perspective (icons, indexes, symbols) at the Jaranan group New Satriyo Mudo performance. The methodology used in this research is a qualitative method, mainly using observational data collection techniques and conducting in-depth interviews to find out the meaning and historical origins contained in this Jaranan art. Based on the analysis, it is found that the structure of the show consists of pre-show, during the performance, and postshow. From this structure, data is found on the pre-show, during the show, and after the show. Then the data were analyzed using Peirce's perspective semiotics (icons, indexes, symbols). The results of the analysis of the structures and symbols contained in the Jaranan show, researchers found that the meaning obtained tends to be historical origins, local community beliefs, and the maintenance of traditional performance.
