Abstract
This study aims to produce assistive technology in the form of a toothbrush that can easy students with Multiple Disabilities with Visual Impairment (MDVI) in brushing their teeth. This toothbrush will be used by MDVI students with neurological disorders as of their hands are unable to open the toothpaste cap and pour it, as well as difficulty moving conventional toothbrushes. Product development is carried out through the Research & Development (R&D) method with the following steps: (1) Research and collecting data (Research and information collecting), (2) Planning, (3) Development of the initial form of the product (Development of preliminary form product). Product trials were not carried out due to the Covid-19 pandemic conditions. The product has been validated by three assistive technology experts, dental hygienists and MDVI experts. All validators considered that the product is suitable for use with an average score of 4.1 in the 1-5 range. The results of the validator's assessment indicated that toothbrushes could be used to help MDVI students brush their teeth with easy. This product still requires direct trials on MDVI students if the Covid-19 pandemic conditions have improved.
