Abstract

Early adult is an age group that is vulnerable to mental health problems but is less likely to seek help, this can be due to attitudes toward seeking help. This study aims to examine the effect of self-stigma on attitudes toward seeking professional psychological help in early adulthood. The nature of this research is quantitative with sample of adults aged 18 to 40 years. The results showed that there is an influence between self-stigma in seeking help and attitudes towards seeking professional psychological help. Men show higher levels of stigma and negative attitudes. Respondents with high school education and status as undergraduate students have low levels of stigma and positive attitudes.
