Abstract

Kata kunci: resiliensi, gegar budaya, mahasiswa rantau This research was conducted to see changes, overseas students were reviewed based on cultural shocks at the State University of Jakarta. The sample in this study was 1000 students, as many as 105 students had very high culture shock, 225 students had high culture shock, 357 students had moderate culture shock, 237 students had low culture shock, and 76 students had very low culture shock. The sampling technique used purposive random sampling. The method used in this research is a survey with a comparative study. The data were collected by using the Resistance Question Test and the Culture Shock Inventory. Analysis of the validity of the instrument using Pearson Product Moment with the help of the IBM SPSS version 26.0 application to 37 valid items on the Resilience Question Test and obtained 23 valid items Inventory Culture Shock. Reliability test with Cronbach's Alpha formula up to a coefficient of 0.880 on the Resilience Question Test and 0.929 on the Culture Shock Inventory, which means that the instrument has high reliability and is suitable for use as a research instrument. The data analysis technique was done by using the Kruskal Wallis Test technique and the Asymp value was obtained. Sig is 0.000 (<0.05). The results showed that there were 7.6% of overseas students experiencing very low culture shock, 23.7% of overseas students experiencing a low culture shock, as many as 35.7% of overseas students experiencing moderate cultural shock, as many as 22.5% of overseas students experiencing high culture shock , furthermore 10.5% of overseas students experienced a very high culture shock. Most of the resilience of overseas students based on cultural shock is in the medium category. The results showed that there were differences in the resilience of overseas students based on cultural shocks. The results of this study prove that the factors that influence culture are not only about village nostalgia, disorientation and habits, lifestyle, language, and symbols. However, resilience is also one of the factors that influence culture. Keywords: resilience, cultural shock, overseas students
