Abstract

ABSTRAK Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menggambarkan secara menyeluruh dan mendalam tentang kondisi bahasa Cirebon yang ketika Sunan Gunung Jati menjabat raja di keraton Pakungwati dan sebagai penegak penatagama Islam di wilayah Sunda, bahasa Cirebon digunakan sebagai bahasa pengantar di bidang pendidikan dan penyebaran agama Islam, saat ini semakin tergeser oleh Bahasa Indonesia yang beberapa tahun terakhir sudah diajarkan kepada penutur asing, seperti Jepang, Rusia, dll. Metode etnografi prinsip emik digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data yang dilakukan dengan cara observasi, kuesioner, wawancara, dan rekaman, kemudian dianalisis dan diinterpretasikan. Temuan hasil penelitian menunjukkan masih adanya penggunaan bahasa Cirebon oleh masyarakat tutur di lingkungan pondok pesantren tradisional, masyarakat umum dan sebagian kecil di ranah keluarga, perkantoran dan pendidikan formal dalam situasi nonformal. Dengan demikian, terlihat adanya sikap bahasa positif sebagai tanda loyal terhadap pemertahanan bahasa Cirebon. Berdasarkan hasil pembahasan, penelitian ini menghasilkan sikap bahasa yang positif dari: pejabat publik, tokoh masyarakat, masyarakat umum, para santri di pesantren tradisonal, dan lingkup budaya (keraton) terhadap pemertahanan bahasa Cirebon. Kata Kunci: Bahasa Cirebon, Bahasa Persatuan, Emik, Etnografi, Sikap Bahasa, Pemertahanan Bahasaiii ********** ABSTRACT The aim of this research is to describe thoroughly and deeply about the condition of Cirebon language when it was Sunan Gunung Jati served as king in Pakungwati palace and enforcer of Islamic religion in the Sundanese region, Cirebon language was used as language of instruction in the field of education and the spread of Islam.at this time is more replaced by Indonesian, which in recent years has been taught to foreigh speakers, such as Japanese, Russian, etc. The ethnographic of enic principlewas used to collect data by means of observation, questioners, interviews, and recordings.. The findings of the research show that there is still the use of of Cirebon language spoken by people in tradtional Islamic boarding schools, the general public and a small part in the realm of families, offices, and formal education in non-formal situations.Thus, it can be seen that there is a positive language attitude as a sign of loyality towards the maintenance of the Cirebon language. Based on the results of the discussion, this sytudy produces positive language attitudes from public officials, community leaders, the general public, students in traditional Islamic boarding schools, and the cultural sphere (palace) towards the language maintenance of Cirebonese.
