Abstract
The objective of the research is to acquire deep understanding of the imperative speech act. As source of data is from film “Abraham the Friend of God”, and focus of this research are: instrinsicaly analyzed structurally in this film to uncover themes, plots, character and setting, analyzed to the imperative speech act to uncover locution, illocution, perlocution, direct and indirect speech act. This research was conducted from October 2013 until April 2014. The research method used in this study is a method of analysis with a qualitative approach to content. The approach used in analyzing the content to reveal the imperative speech act. The research instrument is the researcher herself who is equipped with table analysis. The result showed the realization of imperative speech act in this film use a lot of function and meaning. There are many imperative speech act spoken by the characters in the film, but not all of them have the meanings command and this is where the strength of illocutionary.
