Abstract

Skripsi dengan judul Politik dan Domestikasi Perempuan: Perjuangan Hak Pilih perempuan menuju Pemilu 1955 ini mengkaji tentang perjuangan yang dilakukan oleh perempuan Indonesia untuk mendapatkan hak pilih aktif dalam kancah perpolitikkan Indonesia yang sulit dilakukan dikarenakan faham patriarki dan domestikasi di Indonesia sudah begitu mengakar dan menyulitkan perempuan untuk mendapatkan hak yang sama dengan laki-laki. Proses penelitian yang digunakan adalah menggunakan metode penelitian sejarah dengan diawali dengan mengumpulkan sumber baik berbentuk buku, jurnal, surat kabar maupun foto. Setelah itu penulis melakukan proses verifikasi data dan dilanjutkan dengan menginterpretasi fakta-fakta sejarah sesuai konteks yang dibutuhkan. Langkah akhir adalah melakukan penulisan sejarah secara naratif tentang kesulitan dan perjuangan perempuan dalam melawan patriarki dan domestikasi untuk mendapatkan hak pilih. Kajian skripsi ini akan membahas tentang paham dan praktek domestikasi yang dilakukan di Indonesia terhadap perempuan, usaha yang dilakukan perempuan untuk melepaskan diri dari belenggu domestikasi, serta kesulitan dan halangan yang dialami. Skripsi ini akan ditutup dengan usaha kampanye untuk merebut hati suara hak pilih milik perempuan untuk memenangkan kursi parlemen. Kata Kunci: Hak Pilih, Perempuan, Pemilu 1955, Domestikasi This thesis is entitled Politics and Women Domestication: The Struggle of Suffragettes leading to 1955 Election which examines the struggle of Indonesian Suffragettes against the shackles of patriarchy and domestication to obtain their full participation in the politics of Indonesia. The roots of domestication of women could be traced from the Javanese culture and its norms which resulted in their full segregation from the society. Using historical method, the process of research starts with heuristic, which is collecting sources in the form of books, journals, newspapers, and photographs. From all of the collected sources, the author verifies their veracity to be interpreted with regards to the topic of this research as the next step. Lastly, the author pours all of the gathered information into a historical narrative that explains the rise of women’s empowerment against domestication and patriarchy to obtain suffrage. This study discusses the impacts from the concept of domestication and patriarchy and its manifestation toards women and their efforts to earn freedom from these chains. In the final chapter the author will also discuss about the campaigns of four biggest winning political parties in the 1955 general election to gain vote from women.
