Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dua masalah pokok yaitu bagaimana peran perempuan penenun Baduy Luar dan mengapa perempuan Suku Baduy Luar tetap menenun secara komersil. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada perempuan penenun, suami dari perempuan penenun, sarpin dan pemerintah setempat di desa Kanekes, dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data berdasarkan hasil observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi, dan catatan lapangan. Hasil dari penelitian masalah pokok pertama menunjukkan bahwa faktor penyebab perempuan Baduy tetap menenun secara komersil sedangkan hukum adat hanya memperbolehkan untuk konsumsi keluarga adalah faktor kebutuhan aktualisasi diri. Lalu hasil masalah pokok kedua menyatakan bahwa peran reproduktif sebagai pengurus urusan domestik atau rumah tangga dan peran produktif-nya yaitu menghasilkan sesuatu agar kebutuhan untuk mengurusi urusan rumah tangganya dapat terpenuhi. Kata Kunci: Perempuan Penenun, Faktor dan Peran. This study aims to determine two main problems, the firts one is the role of women weavers of Outer Baduy and why Outer Baduy women continue to weave commercially.. This research was conducted on women weavers, husbands of women weavers, sarpins and the local government in Kanekes village, using a qualitative approach and using data collection techniques based on observations, interviews, documentation, and field notes. The results of the research on the first main problem show that the factors that cause Baduy women to continue weaving commercially while customary law only allows family consumption is a factor of self-actualization needs. Then the result of the second main problem states that the reproductive role as manager of domestic or household affairs and its productive role is to produce something so that the need to take care of household affairs can be met.
