Abstract

Penerjemahan adalah proses mengalihkan makna dari bahasa sumber (BSu) ke bahasa sasaran (BSa). Diperlukan teknik yang tepat guna demi menghasilkan terjemahan yang berterima di BSa. Tak terkecuali dalam hal penerjemahan idiom, atau dalam konteks penelitian ini penerjemahan chengyu. Penelitian ini menganalisis teknik penerjemahan chengyu yang digunakan dalam novel web bahasa Mandarin “Di Yi Qi Shao” ke dalam novel web terjemahan bahasa Indonesia dengan judul “Menantu Palsu” menggunakan teori teknik penerjemahan idiom yang dikemukakan oleh Nida dan Taber. Teori penerjemahan tersebut berupa (1) from idioms to non-idioms; (2) from idioms to idioms; dan (3) from non-idioms to idioms. Data dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh chengyu dalam bab 1 hingga bab 25 novel web berjumlah 196 buah. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memperluas wawasan tentang chengyu beserta dengan teknik penerjemahannya, juga menjadi masukan dalam kegiatan pengembangan buku ajar atau modul pembelajaran khususnya untuk mata kuliah terkait penerjemahan bahasa Mandarin. Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh, 155 buah chengyu (79.08%) diterjemahkan dengan teknik from idioms to non-idioms dan 6 buah chengyu (3.06%) diterjemahkan dengan teknik from idioms to idioms. Selain kedua teknik penerjemahan tersebut, 35 buah chengyu (17.86%) dalam novel web tidak diterjemahkan. Dalam penerjemahannya, ada chengyu serupa yang masing-masing diterjemahkan dengan teknik penerjemahan sama, namun ada juga chengyu yang pada beberapa kemunculannya tidak diterjemahkan. Selain itu, ditemukan juga chengyu serupa yang di beberapa kemunculannya diterjemahkan dengan teknik yang sama namun menghasilkan terjemahan yang berbeda. Kata kunci: Penerjemahan, Teknik Penerjemahan, Idiom, Chengyu, Novel Web ********* Translation is the process of transferring meaning from source language to target language, in order to produce acceptable translations in the target language, the process must be equipped by appropriate translation techniques. Including idiom translation or in this study is chengyu translation. This study analyses the chengyu translation technique in Chinese web novel “Di Yi Qi Shao” which have been translated to Indonesian version of web novel called “Menantu Palsu” using the idiom translation theory introduced by Nida and Taber which are (1) from idioms to non-idioms; (2) from idioms to idioms; and (3) from non-idioms to idioms. The object of this study are 196 chengyu contained in chapter 1 until chapter 25 of the web novel. The result of this study is aimed to be able to broaden one's chengyu understanding along with its translation technique, as well as a reference for developing text books or learning modules, especially for Mandarin translation related course. The result of this study shows that 155 chengyu (79.08%) were translated by from idioms to non-idioms technique and 6 chengyu (3.06%) were translated by from idioms to idioms technique. Apart from using those two technique, 35 chengyu (17.86%) were not translated. During the translation process, there are similar chengyu, which each being translated by the same translation technique, but there are also similar chengyu on its several occurences some were not translated. In addition, there are similar chengyu which on its several occurences were translated by similar technique but resulted in different translations.
