Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh R&D Expenditure terhadap kinerja perusahaan (firm performance) primary consumer goods non cyclicals yang tercatat di BEI pada tahun 2013 hingga tahun 2017. R&D Expenditure digunakan sebagai variabel X untuk mengetahui keterkaitannya dengan kinerja perusahaan, juga menggunakan tiga variabel kontrol yaitu size, growth dan juga leverage . Kinerja perusahaan digunakan sebagai variabel Y dengan Tobin’s Q dan Return On Asset (ROA) sebagai proksinya. Tujuh perusahaan dari sektor primary consumer goods non cyclicals dijadikan sebagai sampel. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa R&D Expenditure tidak mempunyai pengaruh pada kinerja perusahaan, baik proksi dengan Tobin’s Q maupun ROA. Variabel size mempunyai pengaruh positif walaupun tidak signifikan terhadap kinerja perusahaan dengan Tobin’s q sebagai proksinya. Selanjutnya, kinerja perusahaan dengan proksi ROA hanya variabel growth yang menunjukkan adanya pengaruh positif signifikan terhadap kinerja perusahaan. Kata Kunci: R&D Expenditure, Size, Growth, Leverage, Kinerja Perusahaan. This study was did to determine the effect of the variable R&D Expenditure on the firm performance of primary consumer goods non-cyclicals listed on the IDX in 2013-2017. The independent variable used is the company's expenditure for research and development (R&D Expenditure), also using three control variables, namely size, growth, and leverage. For the dependent variable, this study uses company performance as measured by Tobin's Q and Return On Assets (ROA) proxies. Seven companies are use as samples. The results found indicate R&D Expenditure has no effect on the company's performance, both as proxied by Tobin's Q and ROA. The size variable has a positive, but not significant effect on the company's performance as proxied by Tobin's q. Meanwhile, the company's performance as proxied by ROA is only the growth variable which shows a significant positive effect on company performance.
