Abstract

Budaya fashion modern perlahan mulai menggerus keunikan-keunikan dalam adat budaya. Terlihat dari banyaknya kaum muda zaman sekarang yang mulai melupakan nilai budaya daerah bahkan tidak sedikit yang tidak mengetahui sama sekali. Adanya modifikasi pada pakaian adat pengantin, bahkan banyak yang tidak mau lagi memakai pakaian adat pada prosesi pernikahan mereka. Timbul pertanyaan apakah pakaian tradisi tidak mengandung nilai estetik sehingga masyarakat cenderung meninggalkan pemakaian baju adat yang sudah menjadi tradisi. Survei terhadap 72 responden masyarakat Bengkulu menunjukkan fakta bahwa 81% dari mereka tidak mengetahui nama corak ragam hias nama corak ragam hias yang terkandung pada Pakaian Adat Pengantin. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan secara sistematis makna simbolis Pakaian Adat Pengantin Serawai Bengkulu, serta dapat menjadi sumber informasi atau menjadi wadah untuk menyalurkan rangkaian pesan yang akan disampaikan kepada masyarakat tentang betapa pentingnya mengetahui simbol-simbol dan makna yang terkandung pada ragam hias yang dikenal pada tradisi budaya masyarakat suku Serawai, Bengkulu. Dalam melakukan penilaian terhadap Pakaian Adat Pengantin, peneliti menggunakan tabel Modifikasi Brent G. Wilson materi Pakaian Adat Pengantin Bengkulu, kemudian pakaian adat pengantin Bengkulu dinilai estetikannya oleh para penilai yang kredibel, nilai estetiknya diamati secara kasat mata dan dianalisis. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan menggunakan metode deskriptif analisis. Peneliti menganalisis makna ragam hias dari Pakaian Adat Pengantin Bengkulu secara deskriptif. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Pakaian Adat Pengembangan mendapat nilai tertinggi karena telah dinilai berhasil menciptakan pengembangan pada motif ragam hias tanpa menghilangkan nilai adat istiadat Serawai Bengkulu. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa makna simbolis dari Pakaian Adat Pengantin tidak berubah walau mengalami pengembangan asalkan bentuk dari pakaian, dan motif ragam hias masih menyerupai bentuk pada aturan tradisi yang dikembangkan menjadi lebih bagus lagi. ******** Modern fashion culture is slowly starting to erode the uniqueness in cultural customs. This can be seen from the number of young people today who are starting to forget the value of regional culture, not even a few do not know at all. There are modifications to the wedding traditional attire, eventhough many couples no longer want to wear traditional clothes in their wedding procession. This raise question whether the traditional wedding clothes are not aesthetic enough so that public tend to leave behind the use of the traditional clothes. The survey held involving 72 respondents of Bengkulu community showed the fact that 81% of them did not know the name of the decorative style, in the traditional bridal attire. The purpose of this research is to find out and systematically describe the symbolic meaning of the Serawai Bridal Traditional Clothes, this can be a source of information or a forum for channeling a series of messages to be conveyed to the public about how important it is to know the symbols and meanings contained in the known ornaments. In the cultural traditions of the Serawai people, Bengkulu. In conducting an assessment of the traditional bridal attire, the researcher used the Brent G. Wilson Modification table for the Bengkulu Bridal Traditional Clothing material, then the bridal traditional clothes judged by the credible judges, the judges also judged and analyzed the aesthetic values. This research implements qualitative approach and uses a descriptive analysis method. Researchers will analyze the meaning of the decoration of the Bengkulu Traditional Bridal Dress descriptively. The results showed that the Development Traditional Clothing got the highest score because it was considered successful in creating the development of decorative motifs without losing the value of the Serawai Bengkulu customs. It can be concluded that the symbolic meaning of the traditional bridal attire does not change even though it is undergoing development as long as the shape of the clothes, and the decorative motifs still resemble the shape of the traditional rules that are developed to be even better.
