Abstract

ABSTRAK Budaya merupakan salah satu faktor penting yang harus diperhatikan dalam pengajaran bahasa asing, termasuk bahasa Inggris. Buku ajar sebagai salah satu media pengajaran bahasa asing dapat memasukkan kandungan budaya. Selama ini, sebagian besar penelitian terkait dengan muatan budaya dalam buku ajar lebih banyak dilakukan pada buku ajar SMP dan SMA. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menemukan muatan budaya Jakarta yang terdapat dalam buku ajar Hello Jakarta. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan rancangan analisis isi terhadap buku ajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa buku ajar Hello Jakarta menyajikan lima dimensi budaya, yaitu produk, praktik, perspektif, komunitas, dan orang. Kelima dimensi budaya tersebut diwujudkan dalam bentuk kata, frasa, kalimat, wacana, dan gambar. Dari kelima dimensi budaya ini, muatan budayaterbanyak terjadi pada dimensi produk, sedangkan muatan budaya terendah terjadi pada dimensi komunitas. Kata Kunci: Muatan Budaya, Dimensi Budaya, Budaya Lokal Jakarta dan Buku Ajar Bahasa Inggris. ********* ABSTRACT Culture is one of the important factors in foreign language teaching, including English. A textbook as one of the foreign language teaching media can incorporate culture content. Most studies concerning culture content in textbooks are more dominantly undertaken in the levels of Junior and Senior High Schools thus far. The present study was aimed at finding Jakarta culture content which is available in a textbook entitled Hello Jakarta. This research was conducted by using a content analysis design toward the textbook. The results show that Hello Jakarta textbook presents five cultural dimensions, namely products, practices, perspectives, communities, and persons. These five cultural dimensions are realized in the form of words, sentences, texts, and pictures. Of these five cultural dimensions, the most dominant culture content happens in products, whereas the least dominant culture content happens in communities.
