Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagaimana penulis artikel sains semi-populer menyatakan sikap (Stance) mereka ketika menulis tentang disiplin pembelajaran bahasa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan analisis berbasis korpus dengan bantuan aplikasi AntConc untuk menganalisis stance marker yang terdapat dalam korpus. Analisis dilakukan dengan mengadopsi kerangka pendekatan analisis stance dari Hyland. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah 81 artikel tentang pembelajaran bahasa dari berbagai majalah web universitas dan institusi. Hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa dalam mengungkapkan stance, para penulis artikel sains semi populer menggunakan banyak hedges berupa modal verb untuk menandai kehati-hatiannya, booster berupa reporting verb untuk meningkatkan nilai berita, attitude marker dalam bentuk kata sifat positif untuk menyatakan sikap positif mereka terhadap penelitian, dan self-mention dalam bentuk kata ganti tunggal ketika merujuk pada peneliti dan kata ganti jamak ketika merujuk pada penulis itu sendiri. ********* This study aims to analyze how the writers of semi-popular science articles express their stance when writing about language learning discipline. This research used corpus-based analysis approaches with the help of AntConc application to analyze the stance marker in the corpus. The analysis is conducted by adopting Hyland’s framework of stance. The data source of this research is 81 articles about language learning from various university and institution web magazines. The result found that in expressing their stance, the writers of semi-popular science articles employ many hedges in form of modal verb to mark their tentative and carefulness, booster in the form of reporting verb to increase the newsworthiness of the articles, attitude marker in the form of positive adjective to express their positive attitude toward the study, and self-mention in the form of singular pronoun when referring to researcher and plural pronoun when referring to the writer themselves.
