Abstract

The issue of critical thinking skills needs to be raised, so more people realize the importance of critical thinking skills. This study discusses the incorporation of critical thinking skills in English learning materials for Vocational High School students. The purpose of this study was to describe how critical thinking skills are incorporated in English learning materials for vocational high school students. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The source of data used in this study is English learning materials used by Vocational High Schools in Central Jakarta, which consist of four types of learning materials, there are coursebook, modules, videos, and power points. The data are in the form of words, phrases, clauses, questions, or statements that describe critical thinking skills in learning materials. The results showed that the indicators of critical thinking skills were incorporated in the analyzed learning materials, although there was one indicator that was not incorporated in all learning materials. Out of four types of learning materials, course book is the highest of the critical thinking skills indicators incorporation than modules, videos, and power points. Subsequently, module-type learning materials incorporate more critical thinking skills indicators than videos and power points. Then, the videos type learning materials incorporate more critical thinking skills indicators than power points. As well as the power point-type learning materials is the lowest of the critical thinking skills indicators incorporation. ******* Isu keterampilan berpikir kritis perlu diangkat, agar semakin banyak masyarakat yang menyadari pentingnya keterampilan berpikir kritis. Penelitian ini membahas tentang penggabungan keterampilan berpikir kritis dalam materi pembelajaran bahasa Inggris untuk siswa Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan bagaimana keterampilan berpikir kritis dimasukkan dalam materi pembelajaran bahasa Inggris untuk siswa sekolah menengah kejuruan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Sumber data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah bahan ajar bahasa Inggris yang digunakan oleh SMK di Jakarta Pusat yang terdiri dari empat jenis bahan ajar yaitu buku ajar, modul, video, dan power point. Data berupa kata, frasa, klausa, pertanyaan, atau pernyataan yang menggambarkan keterampilan berpikir kritis dalam materi pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa indikator keterampilan berpikir kritis tergabung dalam materi pembelajaran yang dianalisis, meskipun ada satu indikator yang tidak tergabung dalam semua materi pembelajaran. Dari empat jenis materi pembelajaran, buku ajar adalah yang tertinggi dari penggabungan indikator keterampilan berpikir kritis daripada modul, video, dan power point. Selanjutnya, materi pembelajaran tipe modul memasukkan lebih banyak indikator keterampilan berpikir kritis daripada video dan power point. Kemudian, materi pembelajaran jenis video memasukkan lebih banyak indikator keterampilan berpikir kritis daripada power point. Serta materi pembelajaran bertipe power point merupakan yang terendah dari penggabungan indikator keterampilan berpikir kritis.
