Abstract

Penelitian ini menggunakan skala Fear of Missing Out Scale (Przybylski et al., 2013) dan Satisfaction with Life Scale (Diener et al., 1985). Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) is an anxious feeling when one is missing out on something interesting due to the lack of psychological needs. As of lately, FoMO has surged during the pandemic, especially amongst generation Z. FoMO is also stated to be related to one’s life satisfaction. The aim of this research is to explore the effects of FoMO on generation Z’s life satisfaction during COVID-19. This research has collected data from 221 respondents, aging from 18-25. Scales used in this research are Fear of Missing Out Scales (Przybylski et al., 2013) and Satisfaction with Life Scales (Diener et al., 1985). The results prove that FoMO has a negative effect on Gen-Z’s life satisfaction during COVID-19 (b = -0,119). Linear regression shows that FoMO has an effect of 4,7% on Gen-Z’s life satisfaction during the pandemic.
