Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mendapatkan gambaran stres akademik siswa kelas VIII di SMP Negeri se-Kecamatan Pulogadung selama pandemi Covid-19. Yang menjadi sampel ialah siswa kelas VIII di SMP Negeri se-Kecamatan Pulogadung dengan jumlah 287 orang. Pengambilan sampel yang digunakan stratified cluster sampling. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode penelitian berupa survey. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan perhitungan persentase. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan angket berupa instrumen stres akademik yang dikembangkan oleh Sun et.al dan dilakukan proses adaptasi untuk digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa sebanyak 40% siswa SMP kelas VIII masuk ke dalam kategori stres akademik tinggi yang menunjukkan siswa SMP kelas VIII belum dapat mengendalikan stres, harga diri serta kepercayaan diri yang rendah, menganggap keberhasilan dan kegagalan tidak dapat dikendalikan oleh dirinya sendiri melainkan orang lain dan melihat suatu masalah sebagai suatu hambatan. Stres akademik tinggi paling banyak dimiliki oleh siswa perempuan dengan usia 14 tahun.Siswa yang orangtuanya memiliki pendidikan terakhir SMA memiliki stres akademik yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan jenjang pendidikan orangtua lainnya. Jika tekanan pada bidang akademik terus terjadi tanpa diatasi maka akan berdampak pada kesehatan siswa, mempengaruhi bidang akademik hingga melemahnya kepercayaan diri. Diperlukan kerjasama antara siswa, orangtua dan peran guru dalam mengentaskan masalah stres akademik. This study aims to overview the academic stress of eighth grade students at State Junior High Schools in Pulogadung District during the Covid-19 pandemic. The sample is 287 eighth grade of state junior high school students in Pulogadung District that was carried out with stratified cluster sampling. This study used quantitative approach with surveys as the research method. The data analysis was carried out using percentage calculations. The data was collected using a questionnaire with an adaptation of academic stress instrument developed by Sun et.al. The results of the study stated that 40% of eighth grade junior high school students were in high level of academic stress which indicated that the students had not been able to control the stress, had low self-esteem and self-confidence, had a thought that success and failure could not be controlled by themselves but by others and viewed a problem as an obstacle. High academic stress level is mostly encountered by female students aged 14 years. Students whose the parents were senior high school graduate have higher academic stress than other parents who have higher educational level. If the pressure on the academic field continues without being overcomed, it will have an impact on students' health, affect the academic field and weaken the self-confidence. Cooperation is needed between students, parents and teachers in alleviating the problem of students' academic stress.
