Abstract
********* The appearance of the western’s more modernistic children's book causes muslim authors to make an innovation in visual literature by incorporating the preferably princess-themed stories with the religious values. This study is conducted to examine religious cultural identity in the narrative and visual aspects of the picture book, using descriptive analysis to obtain more detailed results. Using Stuart Hall's Identity theory and Post-Islamism theory as context, the result shows that the stories are presented in a more engaging way visually. Besides, the stories have rich religious cultural values which has been made relevant to the target audience, such as diversity, leadership, love for knowledge and politeness. Visual literature of muslim kids nowadays is no longer embedded to the routine of memorizing the holy verses, but is also complemented with the sample application in daily life.
