Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi bentuk toponimi serta makna dari toponimi kampung dan desa di Kecamatan Curugbitung. Penelitian ini termasuk ke dalam lingkup ilmu antropolinguistik yang menghubungkan kajian bahasa dengan kajian budaya dan aspek-aspek tentang manusia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif-deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa wawancara. Adapun hasil penelitian ini memiliki temuan berupa 10 bentuk toponimi desa dan 58 bentuk toponimi kampung yang kemudian dikategorikan berdasarkan jenis satuan bahasa berupa leksem, frasa, dan kompositum; jenis pemaknaan berupa makna leksikal, dan makna menurut narasumber; dan aspek penamaan menurut sistem penamaan Sudaryat yang di antaranya adalah aspek perwujudan berupa kenampakan rupabumi, kenampakan perairan, flora, dan fauna; aspek kemasyarakatan berupa harapan masyarakat, dan tradisi masyarakat; dan aspek kebudayaan berupa legenda, dan folklor. This study aims to identify the type of the toponymy and the meaning of the toponymy of town and village in Curugbitung Sub-District. This research is included in the scope of anthropolinguistics science which connects language studies with cultural studies and aspects about humans. This study uses a qualitative-descriptive method with data collection techniques in the form of interviews. The results of this study have findings in the form of 10 forms of village toponymy and 58 forms of town toponymy which are then categorized based on the type of language unit in the form of lexemes, phrases, and composites; types of meaning in the form of lexical meaning, and meaning according to the source; and aspects of naming according to the Sudaryat naming system, which include aspects of embodiment in the form of topographical features, aquatic features, flora, and fauna; social aspects in the form of community hopes, and community traditions; and cultural aspects in the form of legends and folklore.
