ABSTRACT Marfi Indah Permatasari. 2022. Investigating Communication Skills Infused in English Language Assessment Instruments of Junior High School. A Skripsi. Jakarta: English Language and Education Study Program, Faculty of Languages and Arts, State University of Jakarta. In today's world, good English communication skills are essential for competing in many domains of employment. This study aims to investigate communication skills infused in English language assessment instruments of Junior Hight School. The data for this qualitative study were collected through content analyses on twelve assessment instruments of grade 8 from public and private JHS located in Jakarta and Depok. The study found that all assessment instruments that were analyzed have infused communication skills. However, there were components and indicators of communication skills that more dominantly appeared in a specific assessment. It also found that the ability to communicate interpersonally, interpret meaning, and the ability to present orally and in writing are part of the relevant and potential communication components to be developed for junior high school students. These finding are expected to recommend the English teachers in designing assessment instruments that involve communication skills and deciding which assessment instrument to focus on in infusing the communication skills. Jakarta: Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Ingrgis, Fakultas Bahasa dan Seni, Universitas Negeri Jakrata. Keterampilan komunikasi bahasa Inggris yang baik sangat penting untuk bersaing di banyak bidang pekerjaan di dunia saat ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginvestigasi keterampilan komunikasi yang terkandung dalam instrumen penilaian bahasa Inggris di Sekolah Menengah Pertama. Data penelitian kualitatif ini dikumpulkan melalui analisis isi pada dua belas instrumen penilaian kelas 8 dari SMP Negeri dan Swasta yang berlokasi di Jakarta dan Depok. Studi ini menemukan bahwa semua instrumen penilaian yang dianalisis telah terinfusi keterampilan komunikasi. Namun, ada komponen dan indikator keterampilan komunikasi yang lebih dominan muncul dalam penilaian tertentu. Kemudian, ditemukan juga bahwa kemampuan berkomunikasi secara interpersonal, memaknai makna, dan kemampuan mempresentasikan secara lisan dan tulisan merupakan bagian dari komponen keterampilan komunikasi yang relevan dan potensial untuk dikembangkan bagi siswa SMP. Temuan ini diharapkan dapat merekomendasikan guru bahasa Inggris dalam merancang instrumen penilaian yang melibatkan keterampilan komunikasi dan memutuskan instrumen penilaian mana yang menjadi fokus dalam menanamkan keterampilan komunikasi.
