Abstract

This study aims to identify new types of Arbovirus which might be infected samples of suspect arboviral infections from RSUD Wangaya, Denpasar, Bali and as an effort to make the data surveillance. Arboviral infections (arthropod-borne virus) as a result of DENV, CHIKV, and JEV, are a pathogenic viral infection with serious clinical symptoms and are very easily spread. Denpasar, Bali is the place that estimated as the most heterogeneous and become a benchmark if there is a viral introduction (emerging viruses) in Indonesia. Acute blood sera (0-7 days of onset) and convalescence sera (> 10 days of onset) were collected and tested by the method of RT-PCR and ELISA MAC. The results showed that there was no new arboviral introduction to samples collection. A total 23.07% of cases were infected by Flavivirus endemic to Indonesia and 76.93% of the remaining cases were not infected by Arbovirus with an indication other pathogenic agents present in the specimen. RT-PCR method and MAC ELISA should be highly considered due to their main role in helping accuracy of diagnosis. Data surveillance of arboviral infections in Bali suggested to be made regularly as an indicator of the distribution of pathogenic Arbovirus inside and outside Indonesia and as a references in making disease control regulations.
