Abstract

Komunikasi interpersonal merupakan faktor yang sangat penting dalam proses bimbingan skripsi mahasiswa. Penelitian ini membahas mengenai komunikasi interpersonal dalam proses pembimbingan skripsi oleh dosen Program Studi Pendidikan Sejarah Fakultas Ilmu Sosial Universitas Negeri Jakarta. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui mengenai komunikasi interpersonal yang terjalin antara dosen dengan mahasiswa saat proses bimbingan skripsi. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Juli sampai dengan bulan Desember 2016. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Data diperoleh dari hasil pengamatan dan wawancara. Sumber data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari informan kunci dan informan inti. Informan kunci yaitu Koordinator Program Studi Sejarah, dan Informan inti yaitu dua dosen pembimbing skripsi serta 10 mahasiswa yang melaksanakan bimbingan skripsi. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan studi dokumen. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian didapatkan gambaran tentang komunikasi interpersonal yang terjadi selama proses bimbingan skripsi. Hasil temuan menunjukkan bahwa dosen mampu mengembangkan komunikasi interpersonal dengan baik. Komunikasi interpersonal yang diterapkan oleh dosen menunjukkan kemampuan dalam memberikan pemahaman kepada mahasiswa. Kedua dosen memiliki aspek keterbukaan, empati, perilaku suportif, sikap positif dan kesetaraan dalam mengembangkan komunikasi yang efektif selama proses bimbingan skripsi. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa masing – masing dosen memiliki cara yang berbeda dalam mengembangkan komunikasi interpersonal yang efektif. Perbedaan waktu dan kesibukan yang dimiliki dosen membuat proses komunikasi interpersonal yang efektif antara kedua dosen pembimbing dengan mahasiswa menunjukkan hasil yang berbeda. Interpersonal communication is an important factor in the process of student minithesis guidance. This research discuss about interpersonal communication in the process of minithesis guidance by skripsi adviser of Education of History Program, Social Science Faculty, State University of Jakarta. The purpose of this research is to know about interpersonal communication that formed between student and minithesis adviser in the processs of skripsi guidance. This research already did on July until December 2016. This research used qualitative method with case study approach. The data obtained from observation and interview. The data source that used in this research were the key informant and the main informant. The key informant is Coordinator of Education of History Program and the main informant are two minithesis adviser and 10 students who take guidance. The data collection techniques is done through observation, interview and study documents. The result of this research showed an overview of interpersonal communication that occurs during the process of minithesis guidance. The result showed that the minithesis adviser able to develop interpersonal communication really well. The interpersonal communication that applied by the minithesis adviser showed the ability to give comprehension to the students. Both of the adviser has some aspects, such as; opennes, empathy, supportive behavior, positive behavior, and equality in developing the effective communication during the process of minithesis guidance. This research showed each of the adviser have a different way in developing the effective interpersonal communication. Time difference and busyness of the minithesis adviser made the effective interpersonal communication between the two of the minithesis adviser with the students showed a different result.
