Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis struktur kognitif siswa XI IPS 1 di SMAN 89 Jakarta dengan free word association tests dan concept mapping dalam materi asam basa. Metodologi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan paradigma penelitian interpretatif yang digunakan untuk memahami dan memaknai setiap fenomena yang terjadi dalam penelitian. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi, wawancara, free word association tests, dan concept mapping. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis data kualtatif yang dilakukan dengan tahap reduksi data, penyajian data, dan verifikasi/penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa XI IPS 1 memiliki peningkatan pemahaman dalam setiap tahap model Learning Cycle 8E yang digunakan. Kata kunci dan kalimat dibuat siswa berdasarkan pengalaman terdahulu dan pemahaman yang baru. Model Learning Cycle 8E memiliki dampak terhadap perkembangan struktur kognitif dan softskill siswa.Pengambilan data dalam penellitian ini menggunakan free word association tests yang dilakukan pada tahap explore, elaborate, extend, dan explain. Tahap concept mapping dilakukan pada akhir materi asam basa. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, siklus Learning Cycle 8E dapat menurunkan persentase miskonsepsi pada konsep indikator dan kekuatan asam basa. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa miskonsepsi siswa dapat diatasi dengan menggunakan model Learning Cycle 8E. This study aims to analyze the social 1 grade 11 students’ cognitive structure in SMAN 89 Jakarta with free word association tests and concept mapping in acidic base material. The methodology used in this research is qualitative. This research method use interpretive research paradigm that is used to understand and interpret every phenomenon that occurs in research. Data collection techniques such as observation, interview, free word association tests, and concept mapping. Data analysis techniques used are qualitative data analysis performed with data reduction phase, data presentation, and verification/conclusions. The results showed that students of social 1 grade 11 had an increased understanding in every stage of the Learning Cycle 8E model used. Keywords and sentences created by students based on previous experience and new understanding. Learning Cycle 8E model has an impact on the development of students' cognitive and softskill structures. Data collection in this research uses free word association tests conducted at the exploring, elaborate, extend, and explain phases. The concept mapping stage has done at the end of acid base material. Based on the results of the research, Learning Cycle 8E cycle can decrease the percentage of misconception on the concept of indicator and acidbase strength. This results suggest teacher to Learning Cycle 8E model that can overcome students’ misconceptions.
