Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan sebuah produk berupa modul berbasis problem based learning. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh analisis kebutuhan pembelajaran matematika di sekolah boarding school yang menuntut siswa -siswinya mampu belajar mandiri. Buku yang tersedia belum mampu memenuhi kebutuhan pembelajaran mandiri di sekolah. Hasil analisis angket kebutuhan siswa dan guru mengenai pembelajaran matematika berbasis scientific learning yang dicanangkan pemerintah menunjukkan bahwa bahan ajar yang tersedia belum sesuai dengan pembelajaran scientific learning. Karakteristik usia remaja yang penuh dengan rasa ingin tahu menjadikan problem based learning sebagai pembelajaran yang tepat digunakan untuk siswa SMA. Untuk itu, diperlukan sebuah pengembangan bahan ajar modul berbasis problem based learning yang mampu memenuhi kebutuhan belajar khususnya di sekolah boarding school. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan (Research and Development) dengan menggunakan teori Borg and Gall yang menggunakan 10 langkah pengembangan. Dalam prosesnya pengembangan modul divalidasi oleh ahli materi, ahli media, ahli bahasa dan guru matematika profesional. Di akhir penelitian, peneliti menguji modul yang dikembangkan dengan membandingkan hasil belajar dari dua kelas yang berbeda. Satu kelas menggunakan modul pembelajaran berbasis problem based learning, dan satu kelas lagi tanpa menggunakan modul. Hasil validasi dari para ahli menunjukkan bahwa modul yang dikembangkan dinilai sangat baik. Selanjutnya, hasil uji akhir kepada 2 kelas penelitian menunjukkan bahwa modul matematika berbasis problem based learning yang dikembangkan mampu meningkatkan hasil belajar matematika lebih baik dibandingkan hasil belajar siswa yang tidak menggunakan modul pembelajaran. This research aims to develop products of module based on problem based learning. This research is motivated by the needs analysis study of mathematics in boarding school that requires student were able to learn independently. Books that are available have not been able to satisfy the needs of self-learning in school. The result of questionnaire analysis of student and teacher about the learning of mathematics – based scientific learning that launched by the government shows that the teaching materials that provided not in accordence yet with scientific learning. Characteristics of adolescence filled with curiosity makes the problem based learning as learning the proper use for high school student. This requires a development of teaching materials based on problem based learning modules that serve the needs of learning, especially in boarding school. This research and development using the Borg and Gall‘s theory that using 10 step of development. In the process, the modules are validated by subject matter experts, media specialist, linguists and professional math teacher. At the end of study, researcher tested the modules developed by comparing the result of learning from two different classes. The result of the validation from the experts indicate that the modules developed rated a very good. Furthermore, the final test result to the two-class research shows that the math module developed based on problem based learning able to improve mathematics learning outcomes better than learning outcomes of student who do not use the module.
