Abstract
Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian studi kasus, dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif yang tidak bermaksud menguji hi otesis tertentu tetapi hanya menggambarkan apa adanya tentang suatu gejala, variabel, atau keadaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana ragam tato dalam gaya kekininan terhadap orang dewasa, seperti simbol-simbol, fungsi, serta pengaplikasian tato. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Jakarta, diperoleh melalui teknik wawancara, dokumentasi, observasi, dan studi kepustakaan mengenai kebudayaan tato yang ada di masyarakat di awal kemunculannya hingga saat ini. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bagaimana perkembangan tato yang berkembang di masyarakat dari awal kemunculannya pada suku-suku pedalaman hingga sekarang ini yang telah banyak mengalami pergeseran dan dinamika. Selain itu, dalam penelitian ini juga memaparkan berbagai ragam, simbol, fungsi, serta pengaplikasiannya dari tato tradisional hingga modern. This research is a study case using descriptive qualitative methods that do not intend to test a certain point of hypothesis, but in order to describe about a phenomenon, variable or a condition. This research aimed to understand the varieties of tattoos as a style towards people nowadays that include the symbol, the function and also the used of tattoos. This research was held in Jakarta, obtained through interview , documentation, observation, and literature study about the tattoo culture that exist in the society from the beginning until this time. The result of this research shows the growth of tattoos starting from the traditional tribe and the modern society, which have been changed and had displacement dynamic. Besides that, this research also explain the varieties, symbols, and the used of tattoos from the traditional tribe to modern society.
