Abstract

The objective of this research was to identify the relationship between the understanding of the mole concept, the ability to apply chemical equations and mathematical ability either jointly or partially with stoichiometry learning outcomes. This study uses a quantitative approach with survey method. Data for the study stoichiometry learning outcome, the mole concept understanding and the ability to apply equation collected through written tests while mathematical abilities variable of the average value of the 1st semester math class X. Based on the results of data analysis and statistical analysis, it can be concluded that the understanding of the mole concept and the ability to apply chemical equation was a significant predictor, but mathematical ability is not a significant predictor in improving student learning outcomes stoichiometry. To learn stoichiometry, the student should have the ability / competence on a mole concept and the chemical equation subject matterials. Therefore, the formation of competence in learning stoichiometry should be done based on the sequence.
