Abstract

Mahasiswa termasuk dalam usia remaja akhir yang pada usianya mempresentasikan diri lewat penampilan dengan harapan diterima dikelompok sebayanya. Keadaan tersebut membuat kemampuan self-control menjadi rendah, sehingga mereka cenderung membeli produk fashion berdasarkan emosi. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendapatkan informasi tingkat self-control membeli produk fashion pada remaja. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Central Park Mall yang dilaksanakan dari bulan November 2016 sampai Januari 2017. Responden dalam penelitian ini yaitu remaja putri yang mengunjungi Central Park Mall dengan rentang usia 18 sampai 22 tahun dan berstatus sebagai mahasiswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif, metode pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik survei dengan menyebarkan angket. Teknik pengambilan sampel yaitu menggunakan Incidental Sampling dengan jumlah sampel 100 orang. Angket yang disebarkan kepada responden telah diuji validitas dengan menggunakan uji validitas konstruk dan diuji reliabilitas dengan menggunakan Alpha Cronbach yang perhitungannya menggunakan program SPPS. Hasil uji reliabilitas sebesar 0,948 dapat disimpulkan bahwa reliabilitas baik. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian yaitu analisis deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa sebanyak 52% remaja memiliki self-control tinggi. Diantara ketiga aspek yang diukur yaitu kontrol perilaku, kontrol kognitif dan kontrol keputusan dengan jumlah presentase dari masing-masing indikator yaitu kontrol perilaku sebanyak 86,6%, kontrol kognitif sebanyak 76,3% dan kontrol keputusan sebanyak 95,7%. Artinya remaja mampu mengontrol dirinya sendiri, mempertimbangkan dan menilai serta menentukan produk fashion yang akan dibeli sesuai dengan diyakininya. College students are included of late adolescence phase, which at this stage they show themselves through appearance with expectation being accepted by their same age friends. This circumstance decrease the ability of self-control, so that they tend to buy fashion products based on their emotion. The purpose of this research is to obtain the information of self-control of buying fashion products in adolescents. This research was conducted at Central Park Mall from November 2016 to January 2017. The respondents in this research were young girls who visited Central Park Mall with range of age 18-22 years old and the status as a student. This research used descriptive method with quantitative approach, the method of collecting data using survey techniques by spreading the questionnaire. The technique of taking samples used incidental sampling with the amount of samples are 100 people. Distributed questionnaires to the respondents had been tested its validity by using construct validity test and its reliability was tested by using Cronbach Alpha with SPSS program. The result of reliability test is 0.948, it can be concluded that the reliability is good. Data analysis techniques which was used in the research is descriptive quantitative analysis. The result of research stated that 52% of adolescents have high self-control. Among the measured three aspects, namely behavior control, cognitive control and decision control with the percentage amount of each indicator such as: behavior control 86.6%, cognitive control 76.3% and decision control 95.7%. It means that adolescents are able to control themselves, to consider, assess and determine fashion products which they will buy in accordance with their beliefs.
