Abstract
Penelitian ini berfokus dalam menganalisis penggambaran peran gender khususnya maskulinitas dan feminitas pada akun Instagram majalah Vogue. Teori Sosial Semiotika oleh Gunther Kress dan Theo Van Leeuwen diterapkan untuk mengungkap bagaimana Instagram majalah Vogue merepresentasikan topik mengenai peran gender di media sosial. Metafungsi Representasional, Interpersonal, dan Compositional digunakan untuk menganalisis setiap elemen terhadap gambar yang diunggah akun Instagram majalah Vogue. Hasilnya, penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa akun Instagram majalah Vogue menunjukkan peran gender, khususnya maskulinitas dan feminitas, sebagai identitas yang dapat diterapkan dan dipadukan pada satu jenis kelamin untuk memperkuat perkembangan kepribadi This study focuses on analyzing the portrayal of gender roles, especially masculinity and femininity, in Vogue Magazine Instagram’s account. The theory of Social Semiotic by Gunther Kress and Theo Van Leeuwen is applied to reveal how Vogue Magazine’s Instagram representing the topic of gender roles in social media. Representational, Interpersonal, and Compositional Metafunction are used to analyze every element in the uploaded pictures of Vogue Magazine’s Instagram account. In result, this study shows that Vogue Magazine’s Instagram’s account presents gender roles, especially masculinity and femininity, as an identity that can be applied and combined to one sex to strengthen the personality development.
