Abstract
(ABSTRAK BAHASA INDONESIA) . Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis representasi identi-tas kolektif dan proses nasionalisme yang terjadi di India, Pa-kistan, dan Bangladesh menggunakan teori nasionalisme Franz Fanon dan bagaimana identitas kolektif tadi memberikan kontribusi dalam membentuk identitas nasional dan masyarakat di ketiga negara tersebut dengan menggunakan teori imajinasi komunitas oleh Ben Anderson sesuai dalam penggambarannya di dalam novel “ The Shadow Lines “ karya Amitav Ghosh. Metode deskriptif analitis digunakan untuk menganalisis narasi, dialog, latar, dan karakterisasi yang berkaitan dengan isu – isu yang peneliti ambil menggunakan perspektif sejarah, politik, ekonomi, dan sosial-budaya. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa identitas kolektif dari India, Pakistan, dan Bangladesh dapat ditemukan dalam berbagai macam bentuk budaya seperti bahasa, praktik keagamaan, etnisitas, pandangan politik dan juga dalam bentuk material seperti di pakaian adat yang memainkan peran penting dalam proses nasionalisme yang terjadi di ketiga negara tersebut di dalam era kolonial maupun kontemporer. Identitas kolektif juga terbukti kontribusinya dalam mengkonstruksikan identitias nasional dan juga membentuk tatanan masyarakat modern di ketiga negara tersebut dengan berbagai metode untuk mewujudkannya. Kata Kunci : India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Identitas Kolektif, Identitas Nasional, Frantz Fanon, Komunitas Imajinasi, Tatanan Masyarakat Modern . (ABSTRAK BAHASA INGGRIS) . This study aims to analyze the representation of collective identities and nationalism process in India, Pakistan, and Bang-ladesh using Frantz Fanon’s theory of nationalism and how those collective identities are contributing to shape the national identity and modern society in those three states by using Im-agined Community theory by Ben Anderson as portrayed in “ The Shadow Lines “ novel written by Amitav Ghosh. The de-scriptive analytical analysis method is applied to analyze the narration, dialogues, setting, and characterization in the novel which correlates to the issue that the researcher picked using the perspective of history, politics, economy and socio-cultural. This study shows that the collective identities that can be found in India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh are represented on various cultural forms such as language, religion practices, ethnicities, political views and also in material forms such as traditional clothing which played a huge part in the nationalism process that happened in India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh in colonial and contemporary era. The collective identities also proved to help a nation to construct their national collective identity and to shape the modern society in those three states respectively with various methods to realize them.
