Abstract

***** Hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata) is categorized as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List. This status explains that the turtle population in nature is decreasing. Sabira Island is one of the Hawksbill Turtle's nesting sites, therefore conservation agencies set up a captivity or conservation area as an effort to overcome disturbances to newly hatched eggs and hatchlings. This study aims to determine the rate of growth (length and width of the carapace and body weight of hatchlings) and survival of hawksbill turtle hatchlings and to observe environmental factors in captivity. Data collection was carried out in October-December 2021, which was located in the Sabira Island Captivity. The method used in this research is descriptive with observation technique. The data obtained will be analyzed by Principle Component Analysis (PCA) using SPSS (Statistical Product and Service Solutions) software. All data were tabulated in tables and graphs and explained descriptively. The results of the research for one month obtained the value of growth rate (SGR) of 3.23% and survival (SR) of 48%. With an increase in carapace length by 20%, carapace width by 20%, and body weight of hatchlings by 35%. This shows that the growth rate and survival rate of hawksbill turtle hatchlings in captivity on Sabira Island is still low for management in captivity because there are still hatchlings that die during the study. Based on the results of PCA analysis, the most influential factors on the growth rate and survival of hawksbill hatchlings are feed and water salinity.
