Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan peran ayah tunggal dalam menjalankan fungsinya sebagai single parent. Hal ini dilihat karena ayah tunggal merupakan orang tua tunggal yang harus mendidik dan mengasuh anak akibat karena perceraian atau di tinggal istrinya meninggal dan ayah tunggal harus menjalankan peran ganda yaitu sebagai ayah dan juga sebagai ibu untuk anak-anaknya sehingga tiap ayah tunggal menerapkan bentuk pola pengasuhan anak yang berbeda. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Subjek dalam penelitian ini ada 17 informan yaitu 3 ayah tunggal akibat cerai hidup, 3 ayah tunggal akibat cerai mati, 4 ibu dari ayah tunggal, 2 adik perempuan ayah tunggal, 3 mantan istri ayah tunggal, 2 anak ayah tunggal umur 13 tahun dan 17 tahun. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan data primer dengan melakukan wawancara mendalam dan data sekunder seperti jurnal, buku dan majalah/berita sebagai pendukung penelitian ini. Penelitian ini menggunakan konsep Pola Asuh dari Elizabeth Hurlock yang mencakup pola asuh Demokratis, pola asuh Permisif dan pola asuh Otoriter. Lokasi penelitian dilakukan di kampung Binong, Curug Tangerang pada bulan September hingga Desember 2019. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, peran ayah sebagai single parent rata-rata dibantu oleh supporting system yang tidak lain adalah sang nenek atau saudara lainnya seperti adik perempuan dari ayah tunggal. Hal ini terjadi karena ayah tunggal harus bekerja mencari nafkah untuk memenuhi kebutuhan sehari-hari sedangkan ia juga memiliki peran untuk mendidik anak. Selain itu, lama waktu menjadi ayah tunggal tidak berpengaruh terhadap pola pengasuhan yang diterapkan ayah tunggal kepada anak-anaknya. Rata-rata ayah tunggal baik akibat perceraian hidup atau perceraian mati menggunakan pola asuh demokratis karena ayah memberikan kebebasan kepada anak untuk memilih dan melakukan suatu tindakan dan pendekatannya kepada anak bersikap hangat serta tidak memaksakan kehendak kepada anak. Anak yang hidup dalam pola asuh ini memiliki sifat kreatif, dalam berinteraksi dengan temannnya baik, emosional baik dan berorientasi pada prestasi. This study aims to describe the role of a single father in carrying out its function as a single parent. This is seen because a single father is a single parent who must educate and care for children due to divorce or in his wife's death and a single father must play a dual role, namely as a father and also as a mother to his children so that each single father applies a form of parenting different child. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. The subjects in this study were 17 informants namely 3 single fathers due to divorce, 3 single fathers due to divorce, 4 single father mothers, 2 single father sisters, 3 ex-single father wives, 2 single father children aged 13 years and 17 years . Data collection techniques using primary data by conducting in-depth interviews and secondary data such as journals, books and magazines / news as supporting this research. This study uses the concept of Parenting from Elizabeth Hurlock which includes Democratic parenting, Permissive parenting and Authoritarian parenting. The research location was conducted in Binong village, Curug Tangerang in September to December 2019. Based on the results of the study, the role of fathers as single parents is on average assisted by a supporting system which is none other than the grandmother or other siblings such as the sister of a single father. This happens because a single father must work to make a living to meet their daily needs while he also has a role to educate children. In addition, the length of time being a single father does not affect the pattern of care adopted by a single father to his children. The average single father either due to a divorce of life or a divorce using democratic parenting because the father gives freedom to the child to choose and take an action and approach to the child to be warm and not force the will of the child. Children who live in parenting have a creative nature, in interacting with their friends, emotionally good and achievement-oriented. Keywords: Father's Role, Single Father, Parenting Children
