Abstract

Sastra merupakan refleksi dunia sosial, sehingga penciptaan karya sastra selalu berdialog dengan dunia realitas. Sastra kemudian dipahami bukanlah semata refleksi untuk menyampaikan pesan yang apa adanya, tetapi merupakan sebuah konstruksi yang berdimensi subjektif dan objektif. Penulis sebagai agen memiliki andil dalam menentukan bagaimana khalayak memahami sebuah peristiwa atau realitas dalam kacamata tertentu. Penelitian ini mencoba mengungkap masalah arena produksi kultural novel Assalamualaikum Beijing karya Asma Nadia. Subfokus penelitian adalah struktur teks novel, habitus, modal yang diakumulasi penulis atau agen, dan kuasa simbolik yang dibangun dalam novel. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori sosiologi yang dikembangkan oleh Pierre Bourdieu. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan metode analisis isi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa arena produksi kultural novel Asslamualaikum Beijing terkait dengan struktur dan agensi yang menempatkan Islam sebagai titik pijakan. Hal ini dapat dilihat dalam pertama struktur teks novel Assalamualaikum Beijing yang menampilkan formula penokohan, pengarang menghadirkan tokoh laki-laki China sebagai seorang mualaf dan memenuhi kriteria manusia yang baik dalam standar Islam. Tema yang diusung dalam novel ini adalah cinta manusia yang berbeda latar belakang sosial budaya dan nasionalisme, namun bisa disatukan dalam koridor agama Islam. Settingnya adalah budaya multikultural, serta nilai-nilai yang terpancar dalam teks adalah nilai-nilai Islam dalam komunikasi antarbudaya. Kedua, habitus yang menaungi novel Assalamualaikum Beijing adalah feminism, Islam, dan multikulturalisme. Ketiga novel ini juga ditopang oleh akumulasi modal yang dimiliki penulis, yakni modal ekonomi, modal budaya yang berkaitan dengan pengetahuan tentang Islam dan China, modal sosial, serta modal simbolik berupa prestasi-prestasi yang sudah diraih penulis. Keempat kuasa simbolik yang dibangun dalam novel Assalamualaikum Beijing adalah Islam rahmatan lil alamiin dalam upaya melawan doxa tentang kebebasan perempuan dalam perspektif feminism Barat, kehidupan masyarakat Modern, dan elitisme kultural dalam relasi China dan Islam. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa arena produksi kultural novel Assalamualaikum Beijing berada dalam lingkaran Islam yang berdialog terhadap kelas sosialnya dalam arena sastra, selera, dan semangat zamannya. Kata kunci: Arena Sastra, Produksi, Sosiologi Sastra, Struktur, Habitus*****************Literature is a reflection of the social world; hence the creation of literary works is always in a dialogue with the world of reality. Literature is then understood to be not merely a reflection to convey a message as it is, but rather as a construction whose subjective and objective dimensions. The writer as an agent has an effort in determining how the audience understands an event or reality in a certain perspective. This research sought to analyze the problem of the cultural production arena of Asma Nadia's novel Assalamualaikum Beijing. The research sub-focus is the structure of the novel's text, the habitus, the capital accumulated by the author or agent, and the symbolic power built within the text of the novel. The theory used in this research is the sociology developed by Pierre Bourdieu. The research used a qualitative descriptive approach. The result showed that the cultural production arena of Asslamualaikum Beijing novel is related to the structure and agency that places Islam as a foothold. This can be seen in, the first, the text structure of the novel which features characterization formulas, the author presents a Chinese male character as a convert and meets the criteria of a good human being in Islamic standards. The theme in this novel is the love of humans who have different socio-cultural backgrounds, but can be united into the corridors of Islam. The setting is multicultural landscape Indonesia and China, and the values that are reflected in the text are Islamic values in intercultural communication. Second, the habitus of the novel is feminism, Islam, and multiculturalism. Third, the novel is also supported by the author's accumulation of capital, namely economic capital, cultural capital related to knowledge of Islam and China, social capital, and symbolic capital. Fourth, symbolic power built in the novel is Islam as rahmatan lil alamin, which tried to challenge the doxa about women's existence from the perspective of Western feminism, modern society, and cultural elitism that overshadows the Chinese-Islamic relationship. It can be concluded that the cultural production arena of Assalamualaikum Beijing novel is surrounded by Islam that has a dialogue with the writer social structure, the popular tastes, and spirits of the given era.
