Abstract

FITRI ULFATUN NISA. Karakterisasi Dan Uji Aktivitas Sabun Antiseptik Minyak Jelantah Dengan Ekstrak Lidah Buaya (Aloe vera) dan Daun Sirih (Piper betle L.). Skripsi, Program Studi Biologi, Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam, Universitas Negeri Jakarta. Dibawah Bimbingan Ns. Sri Rahayu, M.Biomed dan Dr. Tri Handayani Kurniati, M.Si. Januari 2023 Sabun adalah produk kebersihan yang dihasilkan dari reaksi kimia antara basa kuat dengan asam lemak salah satunya minyak jelantah. Pemakaian minyak jelantah bertujuan memanfaatkan kembali limbah untuk bahan baku pembuatan sabun. Sabun mengandung zat antiseptik berperan menghambat pertumbuhan mikroorganisme. Penambahan antiseptik dapat diperoleh secara alami pada ekstrak tanaman. Tujuan penelitian menganalisis karakteristik serta antibakteri sabun dengan penambahan ekstrak lidah buaya (Aloe vera), dan daun sirih (Piper battle L.). Metode yang digunakan deskriptif dan eksperimen dengan rancangan acak lengkap pola faktorial. Pengujian antibakteri menggunakan metode Kirby-bauer. Parameter penelitian uji fitokimia, karakteristik sabun yaitu kadar air, alkali bebas, pH, kekentalan, tinggi busa dan aktivitas antibakteri. Hasil uji fitokimia menunjukkan ekstrak lidah buaya dan daun sirih memiliki senyawa metabolit sekunder. Karakteristik sabun paling optimal sesuai SNI 2017 diperoleh, sabun lidah buaya 70% dengan nilai pH, kadar air, alkali bebas, kekentalan dan tinggi busa (7.6; 50.7%; 0.043% ;1300.1 cP; 3.0 cm). Nilai zona hambat optimal terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan Escherichia coli diperoleh sabun ekstrak kombinasi (1:2) 70% (16,37 mm ; 6,69 mm). Aktivitas antibakteri terhadap Staphylococcus aureus dikategorikan antibakteri kuat, sedangkan terhadap Escherichia coli dikategorikan antibakteri sedang. Hasil penelitian diharapkan dapat memberikan informasi pengaruh penambahan ekstrak daun sirih dan lidah buaya terhadap karakteristik dan antibakteri alami sabun cuci tangan. Soap is a hygiene product produced from a chemical reaction between a strong base and a fatty acid, one of which is used cooking oil. The use of wasted cooking oil aims to reuse waste as raw material for making soap. Soap contains antiseptic substances that play a role in inhibiting the growth of microorganisms. The addition of antiseptic can be obtained naturally in plant extracts. The aim of the study was to analyze the characteristics and antibacterial properties of soap with the addition of aloe vera extract and betel leaf (Piper battle L.). The method used was descriptive and experimental with a completely randomized factorial design. Antibacterial testing using the Kirby-bauer method. The research parameters for the phytochemical test, the characteristics of the soap were water content, free alkali, pH, viscosity, foam height and antibacterial activity. The results of the phytochemical tests showed that the extracts of aloe vera and betel leaf had secondary metabolites. The most optimal soap characteristics according to SNI 2017 were obtained, 70% aloe vera soap with a value of pH, water content, free alkali, viscosity and foam height (7.6; 50.7%; 0.043%; 1300.1 cP; 3.0 cm ). Optimal inhibition zone values for Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli in soap with combination extract (1:2) 70% (16.37 mm; 6.69 mm). Antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus is categorized as strong antibacterial, while against Escherichia coli it is categorized as moderate antibacterial. The results of the study are expected to provide information on the effect of adding betel leaf extract and aloe vera on the characteristics and natural antibacterial properties of hand washing soap.
