Abstract

Anak merupakan anugerah dari Allah SWT sebagai makhluk yang harus dijaga dengan baik. Orang tua berkewajiban menjaga dan merawat anak dengan diberikan pendidikan, kasih sayang dan dukungan. Lingkungan keluarga berperan penting dalam menumbuhkan karakter anak salah satunya adalah membangun kepercayaan diri. Namun, tidak semua anak hidup dalam lingkungan keluarga yang utuh. Berbagai permasalahan terjadi dalam kehidupan anak seperti, hidup yatim piatu, ekonomi keluarga yang memprihatinkan, kurangnya kasih sayang orang tua, serta konflik yang terjadi dalam keluarga. Demikian, panti asuhan hadir sebagai lembaga sosial yang dinilai mampu memberikan perlindungan dan memberikan kebutuhan baik jasmani dan rohani. Adanya penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana kepercayaan diri remaja Panti Asuhan Putra Setia, faktor yang memengaruhi kepercayaan diri serta bagaimana peran pengasuh dalam membangun kepercayaan diri remaja panti asuhan Putra Setia. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif kualititatif dengan subjek penelitian tujuh remaja panti asuhan dan dua pembina Panti Asuhan Putra Setia. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa remaja panti asuhan putra setia memiliki karakteristik individu yang mudah cemas, gugup saat berbicara di depan umum, kurang menghargai kemampuan yang dimiliki, dan masih bergantung kepada orang lain. Hal ini disebabkan oleh beberapa faktor diantaranya, konsep diri, harga diri, pendidikan, dan lingkungan. Peran pengasuh sebagai pengganti orang tua yang memberikan pendidikan, bimbingan, arahan dan kasih sayang dalam membangun kepercayaan diri pada remaja Panti Asuhan Putra Setia. **** Children are a gift from Allah SWT as creatures that must be taken care of properly. Parents are obliged to look after and care for their children by being given education, love and support. The family environment plays an important role in growing children's character, one of which is building self-confidence. However, not all children live in a complete family environment. Various problems occur in children's lives such as living as orphans, poor family economy, lack of parental love, and conflicts that occur in the family. Thus, the orphanage exists as a social institution that is considered capable of providing protection and providing both physical and spiritual needs. The purpose of this research is to find out how the confidence of the youth of the Putra Setia Orphanage, the factors that influence self�confidence and how the role of the caregiver in building the confidence of the youth of the Putra Setia orphanage. The method used in the study used a qualitative descriptive method with the research subjects of seven youth orphanages and two supervisors of the Putra Setia Orphanage. The results of this study indicate that there are still many young men in the orphanage who lack self-confidence. This is caused by several factors including, self-concept, self-esteem, education, and environment. The role of the caregiver as a substitute for parents who provide education, guidance, direction and affection in building confidence in the youth of the Putra Setia Orphanage.
