Abstract

English speaking learning materials which meets the need of learner is essential as a means to reach the lesson objectives effectively. This research aims to design communication skills-integrated and microlearning-based of English speaking learning material for tenth graders. This research used a modified Design and Development method (DDR) by Richey and Klein, which consists of four steps: need analysis, design prototype, evaluation, and design revision. The data were components of existing microlearning materials and communication skills of English speaking for tenth grader collected from student’s book, and teacher interview. To analyze the data, indicators of microlearning and communication skills were used. The finding shows that: (1) First, existing English speaking materials not fully integrated with comunication skills and microlearning indicators. (2) Second, the procedures of designing Communication Skills-Integrated and Microlearning-Based of English speaking learning materials in five steps. Finally the English speaking materials were designed using microlearning and communication skills indicators. (3) Third, the result of products of this study is a set of prototype microlearning materials for speaking using different type of media: video, PowerPoint, QR codes, and social media. Based on evaluation by pedagogical and media validators who rated the prototype of products as appropriate and the final decision is the product can be used. (4)The last research question was the employability validated by users, consist of teachers and students, they concluded that the prototype of products can be applied properly due to the bite-sized content. Therefore,the book writers and teachers should emphasized microlearning aspects and communication skills in the learning materials to improve students’ speaking skills. Keywords: Microlearning, Communication Skills, Speaking Skills, tenth Graders ************* Materi pembelajaran berbahasa Inggris yang memenuhi kebutuhan pembelajar sangat penting sebagai sarana untuk mencapai tujuan pembelajaran secara efektif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang materi pembelajaran berbicara bahasa Inggris berbasis communication skills-integrated dan microlearning untuk siswa kelas X. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Design and Development (DDR) yang dimodifikasi oleh Richey dan Klein, yang terdiri dari empat langkah: analisis kebutuhan, prototipe desain, evaluasi, dan revisi desain. Data berupa komponen materi microlearning yang ada dan keterampilan komunikasi berbicara bahasa Inggris untuk siswa kelas X yang dikumpulkan dari buku siswa dan wawancara guru. Untuk menganalisis data digunakan indikator microlearning dan communication skills. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Pertama, materi berbahasa Inggris yang ada tidak sepenuhnya terintegrasi dengan keterampilan komunikasi dan indikator pembelajaran mikro. (2) Kedua, prosedur perancangan bahan ajar Berbicara Bahasa Inggris Berbasis Keterampilan Komunikasi Terintegrasi dan Pembelajaran Mikro dalam lima langkah. Akhirnya materi berbahasa Inggris dirancang dengan menggunakan indikator microlearning dan communication skills. (3) Ketiga, hasil produk dari penelitian ini adalah seperangkat prototipe bahan microlearning untuk berbicara menggunakan berbagai jenis media: video, PowerPoint, kode QR, dan media sosial. Berdasarkan evaluasi oleh validator pedagogik dan media yang menilai prototipe produk sesuai dan keputusan akhir adalah produk dapat digunakan. (4) Pertanyaan penelitian terakhir adalah kelayakan kerja yang divalidasi oleh pengguna, terdiri dari guru dan siswa, mereka menyimpulkan bahwa prototipe produk dapat diterapkan dengan baik karena konten berukuran kecil. Oleh karena itu, penulis buku dan guru harus menekankan aspek microlearning dan keterampilan komunikasi dalam materi pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara siswa.
