Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan sejarah perusahaan pengelolaan air bersih di Bogor dari tahun 1918 sampai tahun 1942. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian sejarah. Langkah-langkah yang dilakukan terdiri dari: mencari dan menemukan sumber sejarah (heuristik), kritik (verifikasi), penafsiran pada fakta sejarah (interpretasi) dan tahap penulisan sejarah (historiografi). Pada tahap heuristik penulis mencari dan menemukan sumber primer berupa dokumen dan koran, serta sumber sekunder berupa buku dan jurnal. Kemudian melakukan kritik terhadap sumber-sumber yang telah ditemukan. Selanjutnya melakukan penafsiran terhadap fakta-fakta sejarah yang diperoleh, barulah tahap penulisan skripsi. Penelitian ini menghasilkan informasi mengenai perusahaan pengelolaan air bersih di Bogor pada masa kolonial Belanda. Pada tahun 1918 ditandai sebagai tahun berdirinya perusahaan pengelolaan air bersih di Bogor untuk dapat memenuhi kebutuhan air bersih bagi masyarakat kotapraja Buitenzorg dengan nama Gemeentelijk Waterleiding Buitenzorg. Pada masa ini kebutuhan air bersih lebih banyak diutamakan untuk masyarakat Eropa yang ditinggal di kotapraja Bogor. Kemudian pada tahun 1942 merupakan akhir kekuasaan pemerintah Belanda dalam pengelolaan air bersih di Bogor, karena pada tahun tersebut terjadi pergantian kekuasaan di Hindia Belanda dari pemerintah kolonial Belanda ke pemerintah Jepang. Penelitian ini juga membahas proses produksi, distribusi dan konsumsi yang dilakukan perusahaan pengelolaan air bersih di kotapraja Bogor sebagai bagian penting dalam pengelolaan air bersih. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa sejarah perusahaan pengelolaan air bersih di kotapraja Bogor mengalami perjalanan yang panjang. Dimulai tahun 1918 sampai berakhir tahun 1942 yang merupakan titik baru dari perusahaan pengelolaan air bersih di Bogor. Perusahaan ini nantinya dikelola oleh pemerintah Jepang dengan nama Suido Syo Bogor. ***** This research aims to describe the history of company clean water management in Buitenzorg from 1918 until 1942. This research method used history research method with steps consist of find historical sources (heuristic), critic (verification), interpretation of historical facts (interpretation) and the stage of writing history (historiography). At the heuristic stage writer seek and find primer sources such as documen and newspaper, and secondary sources such as book and journal. Then make a critique of the sources that have been found. The next doing interpretation of historical facts, after that writing the thesis. Research yields information about company clean water management in Buitenzorg during the Dutch colonial period, 1981 was marked as the year the clean water management company was founded in Buitenzorg to meet the needs of clean water for the people of the municipality of Buitenzorg with the name Gemeentelijk Waterleiding Buitenzorg. At this time the need for clean water was more pruoritized for the European community who where left behind in Buitenzorg. Then in 1942 was the end of the Dutch governement’s power in managing clean water in Buitenzorg because in that year there was a change of power in the Dutch East Indies from the Dutch colonial government to Japan. This research also discusses the production, distribution and consumption processes carried out by clean water management companies in Bogor as an important part of clean water management. It can be concluded that the history of clean water management companies in Bogor has had a long journey. It started in 1918 until it ended in 1942 which was the new point of the clean water management company in Bogor. This company will later be managed by the Japanese government under the name Suido Syo Bogor.
