Abstract

Terdapat sejumlah besar penelitian yang berupaya mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi kualitas pendidikan. Namun, banyak dari penelitian-penelitian tersebut hanya menganalisis pengaruh yang terjadi secara langsung tanpa mengakomodasikan kemungkinan keberadaan pengaruh yang terjadi secara tidak langsung. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi kualitas pendidikan, baik secara langsung maupun tidak langsung, melalui teknik statistika multivariat Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) yang diterapkan pada data Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA). Pada penelitian ini kualitas pendidikan akan direpresentasikan dengan literasi murid pada bidang matematika, membaca, dan sains. Selain itu penelitian ini juga akan ditinjau berdasarkan jenis kelamin untuk mengidentifikasi perbedaan antar jenis kelamin yang mungkin terjadi pada hasil analisis. Hasil dari penelitian mengindikasikan bahwa paparan kepada kegiatan bullying, rasa kompetitif, dan semangat belajar memiliki pengaruh keseluruhan yang signifikan terhadap literasi matematika, membaca, dan sains. Hasil dari penelitian juga mengungkapkan bahwa setengah dari pengaruh keseluruhan yang rasa kompetitif miliki terhadap literasi matematika, membaca, dan sains terjadi secara tidak langsung melalui perantara semangat belajar. Terakhir, dari hasil penelitian tidak terindikasi terdapat perbedaan antar jenis kelamin kecuali pada pengaruh keseluruhan dari rasa kompetitif murid terhadap literasi matematika yang terindikasi memiliki besar pengaruh 33% lebih besar pada jenis kelamin laki-laki. ******** There had been numerous studies that attempt to identify factors that can influence the quality of education. Many of these studies, however, only analyzed the direct effect that occurs without accommodating for the possibility of the existence of any indirect effects. Thus this study aims to identify factors that influence the quality of education, both directly and indirectly, through the multivariate statistical technique Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) that are applied on data from the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA). On this study the quality of education will be represented by students’ literacy in mathematics, reading, and science. In addition, this study will also be evaluated based on gender to identify differences between gender that might occur in the results of the analysis. The results of this study indicate that students’ exposure to bullying, student’s competitiveness, and students’ work mastery have a significant overall influence on students’ mathematics, reading, and science literacy. The results of this study also revealed that half of the overall influence that students’ competitiveness exert towards students’ mathematics, reading, and science literacy occurs indirectly through an intermediary factor that is students’ work mastery. Lastly, the results of this study indicate that there exist no significant differences between genders other than for the overall influence students’ competitiveness exert towards mathematics literacy in which it was observed to have 33% greater influence on boys.
