Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan serta mengimplementasikan Arduino Kit pada materi Termokimia untuk memberikan pengaruh terhadap mindset kimia siswa. Penelitian dilakukan di SPK SMAK PENABUR KELAPA GADING tahun ajaran 2022- 2023. Metode yang digunakan adalah Research and Development (A.D.D.I.E), dengan lima fase utama, yang meliputi analisis kebutuhan, desain, pengembangan, implementasi, & evaluasi. Hasil analisis kebutuhan menunjukkan diperlukannya media pembelajaran berupa Arduino kit disertai situs pendukung pembelajaran untuk membangun mindset kimia siswa dan membantu memahami materi termokimia. Pada tahap pengembangan dilakukan perancangan desain dan storyboard untuk pembuatan kit dan situs pendukung (https://www.arduino-kit.com/). Pada tahap uji kelayakan oleh Ahli Materi, Ahli Media, dan Ahli Bahasa Inggris didapatkan presentase rata-rata keseluruhan secara berturut-turut 97%, 96%, dan 93%. Dengan demikian, Arduino kit yang dikembangkan layak digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran dengan kriteria sangat baik dari sisi materi, media, dan bahasa Inggris. Hasil pada tahap uji coba oleh guru kimia diperoleh skor rata-rata 91% dengan kriteria sangat baik. Uji coba pada kelompok kecil siswa diperoleh skor rata-rata 90% dengan kriteria sangat baik. Berdasarkan instrumen yang dikembangkan, didapatkan bahwa nilai mean, standard deviasi, dan Cronbach's α secara berturut-turut adalah 7.20, 1.34, dan 0.878. Hasil uji t berpasangan dari skor pre-test dan post-test mindset kimia menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan pada taraf signifikansi 5%, dimana p-value < ∝ (0.005) pada setiap subscale dan keseluruhan instrumen mindset kimia. Hal ini memberikan bukti bahwa terdapat peningkatan mindset kimia siswa sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan Arduino kit pada pembelajaran termokimia. Implikasi dari penggunaan Arduino kit memberikan pengaruh yang lebih dominan pada tiga subscale, yaitu visualisasi proses termokimia (Cohen’s d = 0.761), aspek penalaran & perhitungan matematika (Cohen’s d = 0.707), dan kecerdasan kimia (Cohen’s d = 1.026). Penggunaan media pembelajaran Arduino kit pada topik termokimia mampu meningkatkan mindset kimia siswa. ***** This study endeavors to create and apply a viable Arduino kit centered around a chemistry mindset, specifically focusing on the subject of Thermochemistry. The research was carried out at SPK SMAK PENABUR KELAPA GADING, with a trial conducted during the academic year 2022-2023. The study employed the Research and Development methodology (A.D.D.I.E.), encompassing the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation phases. These stages encompassed the need assessment, product development, validation, and trial. The need assessment unveiled a requirement for a learning tool in the form of a kit, paired with an accompanying website (https://www.arduino-kit.com/), aimed at bolstering students' chemistry mindset and enhancing their comprehension of thermochemistry both within and beyond school hours. During the development phase, the kit's design, storyboard, and selection of software for the Arduino kit were formulated. The utilized software comprised Arduino IDE and PLX-DAQ for code writing and data acquisition. The feasibility testing phase, conducted by Material Experts, Media Experts, and Language Experts, yielded overall percentages of 97%, 96%, and 93%, respectively. These outcomes affirm the Arduino kit's suitability as a learning medium, achieving a "very good" rating in terms of both media and content. In the small-scale trial phase, students achieved an average score of 90% with a "very good" rating. Chemistry teacher trials and tests with small groups of students also garnered high average scores, further validating the kit's effectiveness. Through the developed assessment instrument, statistical analysis produced a mean, standard deviation, and Cronbach's α of 7.20, 1.34, and 0.878, respectively. Paired t-test results on pre-test and post-test chemistry mindset scores demonstrated a significant increase at a 5% significance level (p-value < 0.005) across individual subscales and the overall chemistry mindset. This solidifies that students' chemistry mindset improved after using the Arduino kit for thermochemistry instruction. The effects of using Arduino kit were particularly pronounced in three subscales: visualization of thermochemical processes (Cohen's d = 0.761), aspects of mathematical reasoning & calculation (Cohen's d = 0.707), and chemistry intelligence (Cohen's d = 1.026).
