Abstract

*ABSTRAK* --------- Pemahaman konseptual dapat mempengaruhi proses pemelajaran dan hasil belajar sehingga perlu dilakukan identifikasi pemahaman konseptual. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran pemahaman konseptual peserta didik kelas X pada materi elektrolit dan non elektrolit dengan three-tier test. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada kelas X MIPA 5 SMA Negeri 31. Sampel terdiri dari 29 peserta didik kelas X MIPA 5. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik purposive sampling yaitu sampel dipilih berdasarkan tingkat prestasi dari nilai peserta didik yang bervariasi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, three-tier test, dan wawancara. Kategori tingkat pemahaman peserta didik yaitu paham konsep, paham konsep kurang yakin, miskonsepsi, dan tidak paham yang didasarkan pada kategori yang dimodifikasi oleh Aliefman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pemahaman konseptual paling rendah berada pada level kognitif analyze (C4) dengan aspek pemahaman yaitu membandingkan (comparing) saat membandingkan kekuatan konduktivitas dari suatu larutan elektrolit. Pemahaman konseptual paling tinggi berada pada level kognitif understand (C2) dengan aspek pemahaman yaitu mencontohkan (exemplifying) saat memberikan contoh larutan elektrolit berdasarkan jenis ikatan kimianya. Dalam pembelajaran kimia, guru perlu menjelaskan lebih mendalam mengenai konduktivitas elektrolit dan cara menguraikan senyawa elektrolit menjadi ion-ion supaya peserta didik dapat memahami dengan benar. Instrumen three-tier test perlu dikembangkan menjadi yang lebih baik dan perlu melakukan wawancara yang lebih mendalam. *ABSTRACT* ---------- Conceptual understanding can affect the learning process and learning outcomes so that must to identify conceptual understanding. This study has the aim to describe of 10th grade students' conceptual understanding on topic electrolytes and non electrolytes with three-tier test. This study was conducted in the class of MIPA 5’s first grade student of 31 senior high school with a total of 29 students. The sampling technique is a purposive sampling, which is the sample was selected based on the variety levels of achievement by the scores of first grade student. The method used in this study is a qualitative method by using data collection through interviews, observation, and three tier-test. The categories of students' concept understanding are understand the concept of well, understand the concept but are not confident, misconceptions, and do not know the concepts which are based on the categories modified by Aliefman. The results have shown that students have the lowest conceptual understanding at the level of cognitive analyze (C4) with the understanding dimension of comparing when comparing the conductivity strength of an electrolyte solution. Highest conceptual understanding at the level of cognitive understand (C2) with the understanding dimension of exemplifying when giving examples of electrolyte solutions based on the type of chemical bond. On chemistry learning process, teachers need to explain in more about electrolyte conductivity and how to decompose electrolyte compounds into ions, so students can understand correctly. There needs to development of a better three-tier test and more in-depth interview guidelines.
