Abstract

Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk meneliti penggunaan Terjemahan Interlinguistik dan Kesetaraan Fungsional yang mempengaruhi penerjemahan dokumen legal dalam Perjanjian Kerja Sama (PKS) dan Memorandum Saling Pengertian (MSP). Dokumen-dokumen legal ini dipilih atas kategori yang sama sebagai dokumen legal dalam lingkup Kerja Sama di Pendidikan Tinggi dan proses penerjemahan sebagai analisis. Tulisan ini menggunakan studi kasus dua lapis. Lapisan pertama menggunakan proses penerjemahan yang dikenal sebagai Terjemahan Interlinguistik oleh Roman Jakobson (1959) dan digunakan untuk menganalisa apakah terjemahan mengikuti acuan Kerangka Terjemahan Interlinguistik oleh Jakobson dan menetapkan akurasi dalam penerjemahan. Lapisan kedua menggunakan teori Kesetaraan Fungsional oleh Eugene Nida (1969) untuk menganalisa apakah terjemahan menerapkan kesetaraan terjemahan dari Sumber Teks (ST) ke Teks Target (TT). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan interkoneksi yang signifikan dari Terjemahan Interlinguistik dan Kesetaraan Fungsional adalah untuk membantu penerjemah untuk memberikan makna dan elemen struktural dari Sumber Teks (ST) ke Teks Target (TT) seakurat, sejelas, dan sealami mungkin. Dengan mempertahankan akurasi, kejelasan, dan adaptasi terjemahan, kesetaraan dalam terjemahan dapat ditetapkan. Selain itu, dengan kajian akurasi, kejelasan, kata-kata yang setara, dan adaptasi, pengaruh Terjemahan Interlinguistik dan Kesetaraan Fungsional menjadi sangat penting bagi para penerjemah untuk menghasilkan terjemahan yang jelas, akurat, dan alami. Kata Kunci: Accuracy, Adaptation, Functional Equivalence, Interlinguistic Translation. ***** This paper aims to examine the usage of Interlinguistic Translation and Functional Equivalence that affected legal documents translation in Cooperation Agreement (CA) and Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). These legal documents were chosen over the similar categories as a legal document in the scope of Higher Education Partnership and the process of translation as the analysis. This paper employed a two-layer case study. The first layer utilised the process of translation known as Interlinguistic Translation by Roman Jakobson (1959) and used to analyse whether the translation follows Jakobson’s Framework of Interlinguistic Translation and establish accuracy in translation. The second layer implemented the Functional Equivalence theory by Eugene Nida (1969) to analyse whether the translation applies the equivalency of translation from the Source Text (ST) into the Target Text (TT). The results present that the significant interconnection of Interlinguistic Translation and Functional Equivalence is to assist the translator to provide the meaning and structural elements of the ST into the TT as accurate, clear, and natural as possible. By maintaining the accuracy, clarity, and adapting the translation, equivalence in translation can be established. In addition, with the examinations of accuracy, clarity, equivalent words, and adaptation, the influence of Interlinguistic Translation and Functional Equivalence is paramount for many translators to produce a clear, accurate, and natural translation especially in legal documents.
