Abstract

Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi dampak pembelajaran terbalik pada keterlibatan siswa dalam program bahasa Inggris non-formal dengan mempertimbangkan tingkat kemahiran bahasa yang beragam di antara peserta dewasa. Pendekatan komprehensif diterapkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan survei untuk mengevaluasi indikator keterlibatan serta mengumpulkan pandangan siswa. Penggunaan materi pra-kelas muncul sebagai faktor penting yang memberdayakan siswa untuk mengantisipasi dan mempersiapkan diri menjelang sesi tatap muka, meningkatkan rasa percaya diri dan partisipasi aktif dalam diskusi kelas. Integrasi kerja kelompok kolaboratif lebih lanjut meningkatkan keterlibatan dengan memperkenalkan sudut pandang yang beragam. Temuan survei sejalan dengan observasi dan wawancara, menegaskan efektivitas model pembelajaran terbalik dalam meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa. Pendekatan pembelajaran terbalik juga memberikan dampak positif pada persepsi siswa terhadap pembelajaran bahasa Inggris, mendorong eksplorasi lebih mendalam terhadap relevansi praktis mata pelajaran. Penelitian ini menegaskan peran krusial pembelajaran terbalik dalam membentuk keterlibatan siswa yang dinamis dan bermakna, memberikan wawasan berharga bagi pendidik yang berupaya mengoptimalkan metodologi pengajaran. Penelitian ini mengakui keterbatasan ukuran sampel dan konteks pendidikan, menegaskan kebutuhan penelitian lebih lanjut dalam konteks yang beragam. Kata Kunci: Pembelajaran terbalik, keterlibatan siswa, materi pra-kelas, kerja kelompok kolaboratif, pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. ***** This study explores the impact of flipped learning on student engagement within non-formal English language programs, considering diverse language proficiency levels among adult participants. A comprehensive approach was employed, encompassing observations, interviews, and surveys to evaluate engagement indicators and gather students' perspectives. The utilization of pre-class materials emerged as a significant factor, empowering students to anticipate and prepare for in-person sessions, thereby bolstering their confidence and active participation in class discussions. The integration of collaborative group work further heightened engagement by introducing diverse viewpoints. The findings of the survey align with observations and interviews, underscoring the efficacy of the flipped learning model in enhancing student engagement. The flipped learning approach also yielded positive effects on students' perception of English learning, encouraging a more profound exploration of the subject's practical relevance. This study underscores the pivotal role of flipped learning in cultivating dynamic and meaningful student engagement, offering valuable insights for educators aiming to optimize their teaching methodologies. The study acknowledges limitations in sample size and educational context, underscoring the need for future research in diverse settings.
