Abstract

Eko-transliterasi adalah pendekatan penerjemahan yang tergolong baru dan pertama kali diusulkan oleh Hu pada tahun 2020. Tidak hanya diterapkan dalam analisis penerjemahan, beberapa penelitian juga memberikan klaim positif terhadap penggunaan eko-transliterasi sebagai pendekatan untuk pengajaran di kelas. Eko-transliterasi memiliki tiga dimensi: linguistik, budaya dan komunikatif. Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi penerapan eko-transliterasi dalam penerjemahan teks umum oleh mahasiswa Sastra Inggris semester empat di Universitas Negeri Jakarta untuk mengukur tingkat kompetensi mereka setelah diajarkan tentang eko-transliterasi dalam kelas Penerjemahan Umum dan Sastra. Untuk mengukur kompetensi penerjemahan, penulis meminjam model kompetensi penerjemahan dari Beeby-Lonsdale (1996) karena model ini memiliki korelasi yang erat dengan dimensi eko-transliterasi yang dikemukakan oleh Hu (2020). Penulis menemukan bahwa mahasiswa mungkin perlu lebih berhati-hati dalam menganalisis aspek eko-transliterasi pada analisis penerjemahan mereka. Analisis penerjemahan mahasiswa menunjukkan hasil yang relatif beragam, tetapi sebagian besar menunjukkan kompetensi penerjemahan yang baik. Dibutuhkan penelitian lebih lanjut yang membahas eko-transliterasi ke dalam pengajaran di kelas sebelum bisa ditetapkan menjadi bahan ajar baru dalam silabus. ***** --------------------------------------------------- Eco-translatology is a reasonably new translation approach proposed by Hu in 2020. Not only implemented in translation analysis, but some studies have also suggested the optimistic claims of using eco-translatology as an approach for classroom teaching. Eco-translatology is known for its three dimensions: linguistics, cultural and communicative. This study explores eco-translatology implementation in the translation of general text by English literature students in the fourth semester of Universitas Negeri Jakarta to measure their competence level after being taught about eco-translatology in the General and Literary Translation class. To measure the translation competence, the writer borrows the translation competence model from Beeby-Lonsdale (1996) due to its close correlation with Hu’s (2020) dimension of eco-translatology. The writer found that students may need to be more mindful when affirming all aspects of eco-translatology in their translation analyses. The translation analysis results of students' translation show relatively diverse outcomes, but most displayed good translation competence. Further studies must incorporate eco-translatology into classroom teaching before it becomes a new teaching material in the syllabus.
