Abstract

The digital era has ushered in transformative changes in education and assessment, with online testing gaining prominence as a convenient and flexible mode of evaluation. Yet, when compared to traditional tests, free online tests were found to have lower reliability and validity, bias and limited sort of questions, so the urgency to conduct research on it emerged. This study aimed to investigate the alignment between the CEFR-Based online test offered by English Radar and the dimensions of text proposed by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages – Level Estimation grid for teachers (CEF-ESTIM Grid) tool. Sixty questions comprising reading and listening questions in the form of multiple choices and short answers were analysed using content analysis. The findings revealed that four out of eleven dimensions in the English Radar tests have fair distribution in terms of grammar, vocabulary, speaker speed, and speakers’ articulation. However, the rest seven dimensions did not fully align with the dimensions of text from the CEF-ESTIM Grid, especially for the number of participants for listening and the speaker’s accent. ***** Era digital telah mengantarkan perubahan transformatif dalam pendidikan dan penilaian, dengan tes online yang semakin terkenal sebagai mode evaluasi yang nyaman dan fleksibel. Namun, jika dibandingkan dengan tes tradisional, tes online gratis ditemukan memiliki reliabilitas dan validitas yang lebih rendah, bias dan jenis pertanyaan yang terbatas, sehingga muncul urgensi untuk melakukan penelitian tentang hal tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki keselarasan antara tes online berbasis CEFR yang ditawarkan oleh English Radar dengan dimensi teks yang diusulkan oleh alat Common European Framework of Reference for Languages - Level Estimation grid for teachers (CEF-ESTIM Grid). Enam puluh pertanyaan yang terdiri dari pertanyaan membaca dan mendengarkan dalam bentuk pilihan ganda dan jawaban singkat dianalisis menggunakan analisis konten. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa empat dari sebelas dimensi dalam tes English Radar memiliki distribusi yang adil dalam hal tata bahasa, kosakata, kecepatan pembicara, dan artikulasi pembicara. Namun, tujuh dimensi lainnya tidak sepenuhnya selaras dengan dimensi teks dari CEF-ESTIM Grid, terutama untuk jumlah peserta untuk mendengarkan dan aksen pembicara.
