Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini menyelidiki kerumitan tata bahasa dan tipe proses pada bagian pembahasan Skripsi (SK) dan Research Articles (RA). Kerumitan tata bahasa dapat mengindikasikan kerumitan sebuah teks, sedangkan tipe proses mengindikasikan fitur teks akademik yang tercermin pada setiap jenis teks. Karena Skripsi (SK) diharapkan untuk dipublikasikan ke internet, mungkin ada baiknya untuk memeriksa kerumitan tata bahasa dan tipe prosesnya dibandingkan dengan artikel penelitian (RA) yang sudah ada, yang merupakan laporan penelitian yang ditulis oleh penulis berpengalaman dan telah dipublikasikan. Dengan menggunakan analisis konten, ditemukan bahwa RA memiliki kerumitan tata bahasa yang lebih tinggi daripada SK. Hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa per kompleks klausa, terdapat lebih banyak klausa dalam RA dibandingkan dengan SK. Dalam hal jenis proses, baik RA maupun SK memiliki jumlah jenis proses yang tinggi yang mencerminkan fitur impersonal, informatif, dan subyektif dari laporan penelitian, yaitu proses material, relasional, dan eksistensial. RA memiliki jumlah tipe proses yang sama tingginya yang menunjukkan fitur interpersonal dan sugestif, sementara SK memiliki jumlah yang relatif lebih rendah. Temuan dalam penelitian ini mengenai kerumitan tata bahasa dalam artikel penelitian dan skripsi harus menjadi panduan bagi pembuat kebijakan pendidikan tinggi dan pembuat kurikulum tentang cara meningkatkan penulisan laporan penelitian mahasiswa. Hal ini sangat penting karena semakin banyak karya mahasiswa yang dipublikasikan di internet, dan mungkin merupakan ide yang baik untuk meningkatkan kualitas penulisan. ***** Abstract This study investigated the grammatical intricacy and process types of the discussion section of Skripsi (SK) and Research Articles (RA). Grammatical intricacy can indicate the intricacy of a text, while process type indicates which feature of academic texts are reflected by each text type. As Skripsi (SK) are expected to be published to the internet, it may be worthwhile to examine their grammatical intricacy and process type as opposed to existing research articles (RA), which are research reports that are written by experienced writers that are already published. Employing a content analysis, it was found that RA has a higher grammatical intricacy than SK. This indicated that per clause complex, there are more clauses in RA than in SK. In terms of process types, both RA and SK have a high number of process types which reflect the impersonal, informative, and subjective feature of research report, which are material, relational, and existential processes. RA possessed a similarly high number of process types that shows interpersonal and suggestive feature, while SK has a comparatively low number of them. The findings in this study regarding the grammatical intricacy of research articles and skripsi should guide higher education policy and curriculum makers on how to improve students' research report writing. This is critical since more and more of students' work is being published on the internet, and it may be a good idea to improve the writing quality.
