Abstract

***** This study aims to describe students' computational thinking skills based on their MSC and KAM on sequences and series material. The method used in this research is a qualitative approach with a case study type. The research was conducted at SMA Negeri 77 Jakarta. Based on the results of the KAM test, the MSC questionnaire, and the teacher's consideration, four research subjects were selected based on the differences between MSC and KAM. Each research subject was given a computational thinking ability test and continued with the interview. A triangulation of computational thinking ability test results and interview data was carried out in order to obtain credible data for analyzing students' computational thinking abilities. The data analysis used is to link each stage of problem solving done by students with indicators of computational thinking skills. It was found that students with positive MSC and high KAM had the ability to perform all components of computational thinking very well. Students with negative MSC and high KAM have the ability to do pattern recognition and algorithmic thinking very well, but decomposition and abstraction are in the sufficient category. Students with positive MSC and low KAM have fewer computational thinking skills; they only have sufficient decomposition and abstraction skills. Students with negative MSC and low KAM have very little computational thinking ability, meaning that they are not able to do all components of computational thinking.
