Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh CEO education dan CEO gender terhadap keputusan struktur modal perusahaan terindeks Kompas 100 yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI) periode penelitian 2018-2022. Struktur modal diproksikan dengan Debt to Asset Ratio (DAR) dan Leverage Ratio (LR). Sedangkan CEO education diproksikan dengan tingkat pendidikan, pendidikan terakhir CEO berasal dari universitas luar negeri ternama dunia, pendidikan terakhir CEO berasal dari universitas ternama Indonesia, dan CEO memiliki gelar pada bidang ekonomi, keuangan, dan bisnis. Sedangkan, CEO gender diproksikan dengan CEO perempuan. Penelitian ini menggunakan 67 perusahaan yang terdaftar di BEI dan terindeks Kompas 100. Metode pengambilan sampel yang digunakan yaitu teknik purposive sampling, teknik analisis menggunakan regresi data panel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa CEO gender tidak berpengaruh, sedangkan CEO education berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap struktur modal perusahaan. Penelitian ini selaras dengan Upper Echelons Theory mengenai pengaruh CEO education terhadap struktur modal dan memberikan informasi lebih kepada para investor untuk mempertimbangkan latar pendidikan CEO sebelum berinvestasi pada suatu perusahaan. ***** The aim of this research is to determine the influence of CEO education and CEO gender on capital structure decisions of Kompas 100 indexed companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) for the 2018-2022 research period. Capital structure is proxied by Debt to Asset Ratio (DAR) and Leverage Ratio (LR). Meanwhile, CEO education is proxied by the level of education, the CEO's last education comes from a world-renowned foreign university, the CEO's last education comes from a well-known Indonesian university, and the CEO has a degree in economics, finance and business. Meanwhile, CEO gender is proxied by female CEO. This research used 67 companies registered on the BEI and indexed by Kompas 100. The sampling method used was purposive sampling technique, the analysis technique used panel data regression. The research results show that CEO gender has no effect, while CEO education has a positive and significant effect on the company's capital structure. This research is in line with the Upper Echelons Theory regarding the influence of CEO education on capital structure and provides more information for investors to consider the CEO's educational background before investing in a company.
