Abstract

Penelitian ini untuk mengetahui sektor-sektor ekonomi yang memiliki potensi besar untuk dikembangkan di Kota Makassar. Serta untuk mengetahui peran sektor-sektor ekonomi unggulan dapat mendukung Makassar sebagai kota metropolitan baru di Kawasan Timur Indonesia. Data yang dipergunakan adalah Produk Domestik Regional Bruto (PDRB) Menurut Lapangan Usaha Kota Makassar dan Ibukota Provinsi di seluruh Pulau Sulawesi (Kota Kendari, Kota Palu, Kot Gorontalo, Kota Mamuju, dan Kota Manado) dalam periode 9 tahun yakni tahun 2015-2023. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif. Teknik analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Location Quotient, Shift Share, dan Tipologi Klassen. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah terdapat tiga sektor unggulan di Kota Makassar yaitu Sektor Perdagangan Besar dan Eceran; Reparasi Mobil dan Sepeda Motor, Sektor Informasi dan Komunikasi dan Sektor Jasa Perusahaan. Sektor Perdagangan Besar dan Eceran; Reparasi Mobil dan Sepeda Motor menjadi sektor unggulan didorong oleh peningkatan mobilitas, urbanisasi, dan kebijakan pembangunan infrastruktur serta dukungan terhadap UMKM. Sektor Informasi dan Komunikasi menjadi sektor unggulan didukung oleh infrastruktur digital yang kuat dan kebijakan pemerintah yang mendukung start-up teknologi. Sektor Jasa Perusahaan menjadi sektor unggulan berkat keberadaan perusahaan besar dan kantor regional serta ketersediaan tenaga kerja terampil. Ketiga sektor ini memiliki potensi besar dalam mendukung Makassar menjadi kota metropolitan yang maju dan berkelanjutan. Dengan kebijakan pembangunan yang tepat, sektor-sektor ini dapat terus mendorong pertumbuhan ekonomi dan meningkatkan daya saing Makassar di tingkat nasional dan internasional. Kata Kunci: Sektor Ekonomi Unggulan, Kota Metropolitan Location Quotient, Shift Share, Tipologi Klassen. ***** This research aims to identify the economic sectors with great potential for development in Makassar and to determine how these leading economic sectors can support Makassar as a new metropolitan city in Eastern Indonesia. The data used includes the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) by Business Field of Makassar City and the capital cities of provinces across Sulawesi Island (Kendari City, Palu City, Gorontalo City, Mamuju City, and Manado City) over a 9-year period from 2015 to 2023. This research employs a descriptive quantitative method. The analysis techniques used in this study are Location Quotient, Shift Share, and Klassen Typology. The results of this study identify three leading sectors in Makassar: the Wholesale and Retail Trade; Repair of Motor Vehicles and Motorcycles sector, the Information and Communication sector, and the Business Services sector. The Wholesale and Retail Trade; Repair of Motor Vehicles and Motorcycles sector is a leading sector driven by increased mobility, urbanization, infrastructure development policies, and support for SMEs. The Information and Communication sector is a leading sector supported by strong digital infrastructure and government policies that support technology start-ups. The Business Services sector is a leading sector due to the presence of large companies and regional offices as well as the availability of skilled labor. These three sectors have great potential in supporting Makassar to become an advanced and sustainable metropolitan city. With the right development policies, these sectors can continue to drive economic growth and enhance Makassar's competitiveness at both national and international levels.
